I'll be replacing the clutch on my Cerbera in the next day or so and see that I need to drill out the rivets securing the heat shield to the inside of the tunnel. I want to have the right rivets ready when I put it back together. Does anyone know if they need to be a certain type of rivet or will any old thing do? Does one put them back in the same holes or drill new ones? If back in the same holes anyone know what size they are? Thanks in advance. John.

3.2mm x 16mm rivets
3.2 mm washers.

That's what I used when I did the job myself.

However, the last garage that worked on my car drilled them out to 4mm.

So you should perhaps get it stripped down and check.

How about self tapping screws?

If you removing in the near future will make the job quicker.

Thanks for your answers. Very helpful indeed. Keep your fingers crossed for me that the new clutch goes in without problems otherwise I won't be catching that ferry back to the UK on Friday!

I used self tappers too - why would anyone use rivets?

However, last time I went back I had to drill some of them out and it was much more awkward than drilling out rivets.

That's why I used small bolts 6 or 8 mm with washers.
