i'm picking up the car on saturday. its getting a 12k service done this week. it comes with a 12 month warranty. my question is, will another garage honor it? or maybe joospeed (as i'm 10 miles from him). cause i really don't want to take it down to gatwick if something fails... time and distance being the issue
I hate warranties with a passion. My policy is that if there's work to be done the owner pays for it, and if the warranty company pay anything towards it I give you that ammount back, together with a photocopy of the cheque from the warranty company so you know exactly the amount given. Also make sure you're on out list of customers cos I'm reluctant to take any more new customers on unless it's a particularly interesting job.

don't blame you... it sounds like they are like insurance companies and take about 2 years to pay up. are you at the shop on saturday? wondering if i could stop by and have you take a quick gander at the car, get on your customer list maybe
Don't think there's ANY garage that likes 3rd party warranties. Always a REAL pain to deal with. Just make sure that they've sent an engineer out to inspect anything necessary before getting the garage to undertake the work. Then you can spend all the time you like arguing it out with the warranty co.
Personally, every time I get a garage to put something through on the warranty, I send them a crate of beer for the effort I know it'll have involved.
