Has the SP6 Cerbera for 12 months. Used as a second car and still managed to do 10K miles....
Apart from regular servicing, TLC, and some "special TLC" on the engine at Blackpool, everything has been superb.
Infact the more I drive the car, the more I like it. (Never had a car before that I haven't been bored of within 12 months.)
If you think you might like one, you will, get one.

Mine too (Not back to Blackpool - Yet) - it's great, I love it 
How many owners on the Cerb Reg are Speed Sixes, and how many were built in total?
PS We need to find a friendly bloke who will specialise in our servicing needs, since Joolz is being so picky!

my speed six arrives in less than an hour (insert pause to run to the loo again) and whilst im buying this with 'my eyes open' (for 'with my eyes open' read 'open, but picturing a reliable car and ignoring the cerbera behind it') theres something very disconcerting about the sheer volume of people who say bad things about my shiny new hole in my bank account. that said, i understand why youre all saying it, but if for a couple of weeks if you could just sort of whisper 'there there itll all be alright.. ssshhh..' thatd be great. after that, i guess im gonna be yelling louder than all of you.
good to be here, lets hope its for a while. that said, if you could all start having a whip-round now, thatd be a big help...

No matter how bad things turn out to be, you can be sure that (almost) everyone on here will do their best to help out and not fall back on "I told you so"s

When was the rebuild? If it was in the last 18 months or so, then I'd just get on and enjoy the car... would expect it to be as reliable as one can be.

engine rebuild was done 8-10 months ago, only 5k done since then. im hoping, and by that i mean REALLY hoping, that its gonna be fine. especially since im gonna use it as a daily runner. i know, i know... im just not that bright. happy though. well, currently anyway..
oooo oooo whats that? i think i hear it coming now.. either that or its the sound of it exploding as it is started on the back of the delivery truck..
oh no wait, it was just my boiler failing. doh.

engine rebuild was done 8-10 months ago, only 5k done since then. im hoping, and by that i mean REALLY hoping, that its gonna be fine. especially since im gonna use it as a daily runner. i know, i know... im just not that bright. happy though. well, currently anyway..

5k in 8 months is sadly a lot for a TVR - most of them don't get driven very much at all. As for knowing what you're talking about, don't worry - most of my posts in the last few years have been complete drivel, but thankfully the gang will sort the wheat from the chaff and get you some answers.
As for the hole in your bank account, don't worry about it - it'll soon get bigger when you start playing with upgrades, and you can always plug the hole with your grin from driving it anyway!
Fair 'nuf, the Sp6 has a scary reputation, but you're going to be driving it everyday - that means you'll soon get used to it, and be aware of any little thing that sounds out of place - that way you can catch many things early before they go very wrong, but more to the point giving the car a work out every day is far better than leaving it in a garage and only dragging it out and expecting it to perform on high days an holidays!
You've got the car, all you need is a friendly Indie who'll take care of the pair of you, and the rest is adrenalin and endomorphins!
As for emails from posts, I think you can only do it when you yourself started the thread - you'll have to do what the rest of us do and never leave the house or speak to anyone, just live in PH cyberspace!

I'd say that's great... someone's really made use of it recently, so there should be no having-stood-around-for-ages issues that new owners regularly have to deal with. And a rebuild within the last year should mean nice new valve guides as well as followers. Only thing on a 2001/15k mile car is that I'd expect the slave cylinder seals to go within the next 10k miles/1 year or so. Would maybe get a warranty to cover that...
Be prepared for a lot of "oooh, what was that noise?" moments in the first month or so. And make sure you follow the general consensus on warming it up properly, etc.

plus, my neighbours already hate. even those who didnt before.
think i might change my screen name to fk*n nervous.

Noise means it's working. Take it easy with the right foot, bud... the roads are cold and greasy, the car's new to you & has a lot of power, and being nervous & inexperienced with it means you won't be driving it as "smooth" as you should be - it'll be more likely to get unsettled.
Would suggest finding a nice stretch of motorway to drive a good few miles on to get a feel for it before tackling harder roads. The guy that bought my Cerb off me had crashed it (in a minor way) before he'd even got it home, and he came from owning a Griff before... plenty of time to tame it properly
good man yourself, thanks matey, your advice is greatly appreciated. im certainly gonna take it easy for a good wee while, ive just come from a car with absoluteley idiot proof handling and the most cosseting traction control ever, so the likelyhood of me running out of talent before i run out of performance is a very real possibility. plus, im far too nauseous to drive now, let alone speed.
who knew that buying a stupid bright blue sausage dog would be a good way to PROTECT my already laden licence? i should of thought of this years ago..
any of you folk in norfolk? (please dont hold this against me, it doesnt necessarily make me a bad person)(though, ironically, my general demeanour, personality and fragrance do)
going to go and look at it again now. am taking a bucket just in case. plus, when all the oil starts spilling out ill be ready.

Nerves are entirely normal. When I picked mine up a few weeks ago I was positively shaking! I had had a 400SE previously, so not new to TVR, but the Cerb is in a different league. Don’t start worrying about a failure. If, like me, you’ve bought privately then obviously there is a risk “sold as seen”. But my view was the significant the cash saved will cover some serious remedial work if (when?) it comes along. Take it gently (at first) and enjoy!

Challenge: See if you can hit the redline in 4th twice in 2 minutes, and go almost 2 miles at 125mph without touching the steering wheel once - that was my fun last weekend.

..... brings it all back.... and it was only last night I drove mine !!!!
could only be describing a Cerbera.
As for the speed, did you look at the dial? my guess is that progress was probably far more rapid than it seemed.
