After almost a month of trouble free motoring, I think my clutch has given up the ghost.
It's very difficult to change gears, with or without the engine running, the clutch pedal feels & sounds like I'm pushing against a spring, no loss of fluid though.
The AA are on there way to collect it, after giving them the details of the car, they then asked "Are you currently towing anything ?"
Please God, let the patrolman be more informed than the phone operator
Back to the old transit van again

If you have lost fluid then it would probably be slave (fluid under car) or master (fluid in footwell). Otherwise you might be needing the bulk of that warranty.
People have said the AA one is quite good though, but you have to call them out and they have to say they can't fix it there otherwise I think there is a get out clause. Sounds like you are covered for that.
I got it to cover clutch stuff mainly and since I started it 18 months ago I haven't had to use it.... sods law really.

Looks like I've just joined the club as well!
My clutch has been slightly notchy over the last week and then today, gear selection became very difficult. I got caught out by a level crossing about 200m from home and when the train had passed, the clutch pedal went straight to the floor. I managed to limp home by stopping the engine, pumped the clutch a few times which built up just enough pressure to select first, start the car and pull away. After stalling on the drive at home, I can see some clutch fluid dripping from the gearbox area so presume the slave cylinder has failed.
If I get the slave cylinder replaced, is it worth getting the clutch changed at the same time? Also, what is considered the better option - fitting a new slave cylinder or replacing the seals with Jools' improved set?

Sorry to hear of your woes, but welcome to the CFC.
If its any consolation, mine is being done at the minute, and it turned out it was just the slave cylinder and seals, so did not have to get the whole hog. Still, its my second slave cylinder in less than a year
Did it have a slave cylinder a year ago?? .. certainly didn't look like a year old cylinder .. take a look when you get home at your old one . I put it in the boot.

That question will depend on the condition of the cylinder. If it's been scored at all then it will need changed.
Must be the time of year for it. Do you use the car regularly or is it a weekend toy?
I'm thinking that lack of use is a real killer for the seals.
The TVR seals are crap.
I get higher quality seals and slave cylinders made for me .. and sell them back to TVR dealers ! .. they're higher quality and cheaper than the OE stuff!
false economy not to get the slave cylinder and seals all done together though .. you don't want to be paying the labour all over again in a few months time

I think you're right.
The car is an S-reg (1998) and has only done 30k. The previous owner didn't use the car that regularly, but I am looking at doing around 10k per year, even though it is a weekend only car...
I've been expecting the clutch to go for around a month now as I knew there was a small amount of fluid loss from the master reservoir. I'm hoping that I won't get hit by too many more of these big bill items though (reaches for large piece of wood!), as I'm due to get married in June and the car seems to be generating bills as quickly as the wedding!
(Have a look at my profile for the breakdown, I've only had the car since October!)Mine was the same. Clutch was changed at 29000 miles. Then previous owner only managed 5000 miles in 3 years. I managed about 500 miles before the slave went. Since then I'm on about 13000 but I was using as an only car for about a year.
Work is keeping me out of the car just now but hopefully normal service will resume shortly!!!
