Any idea where I can get some of these?

I don't really want to reuse the ones that I had to extract with pliers as they have not fared well. I could clean them up, but they're no longer perfectly round anyway.

The usual suspects list the crank/flywheel dowel and head/block dowel, but nothing else.

Dimensions
12mm Diameter
10mm Height
(Internal diameter approx 8.5mm)

does it have to be hollow or can it be solid?

Hollow, here's a pic showing them on the top of the heads (I'll do a close up another time)

I'm certain that they are a common size, I just need to find out who uses them on their engines.

Thanks, that was a huge help, and meant that when I searched using that description I found this

DOWEL PIN,12MM
Kawasaki
part nr:92042031
£2 each

I don't know what height they are, but I've ordered a pair and I'll see what happens.

Having the part number really helps, and although the Ford ones look perfect, the part number in the listing was wrong. If the Kawasaki ones don't work out I'll make a more concerted effort to find the Ford part number and order a few of them.

Thanks again

Sadly these turned out to be 12mm high rather than 12mm dia (14mm dia instead).

These are 12mm dia, but they are 14mm high. In theory they could be turned so that they are 10mm high, but they could easily be squished when holding them on a lathe, and they are supposed to be a precision part.

I could really do with finding the right part!

have you tried dowels for a speed 6? I know the cam caps are the same.

Thanks Clive, I have just tried Powers and they've asked me to call back after lunch.

If you can find someone with a collet lathe then that's not a problem.

A shame as i have one in the garage but no 3ph power to run it on.

I have access to a lathe and collet chuck and will be at Ruislip from Friday if you want to bring them down to me Paul.

Thanks Peter. Hopefully I will have received some dowels from Powers by then. Although both RG and Powers have the larger head/block dowels listed, neither have the smaller dowels on the websites. Originally I only called RG, I should have called Powers as well.

I can now add these to my collection of incorrect sized Woodruff keys that I have bought recently.
