I've been trying to choose which tyres to get for my Cerb. I've used the search facility but I'm still confused.

It's currently sitting on Toyo's front, Falkens rear. The Falkens are ste, the Toyo's have good grip but have small cracks between the grooves, could be age related but it concerns me.

Ideally, I'd like the same make on all corners with 225/35/18 front, 255/35/18 rears and it's purely for road (all seasons as it gets used all year round).

My choices have whittled down to Toyo T1-Sports, Bridgestones Potenza S001, Uniroyal Rainsport 3, Goodyear F1(difference between Asymetric and Asymetric 2?)

If it hadn't been for the small cracks, it would be Toyo's without hesitation but what would you recommend?

Can't comment on any but the Toyos, horrible tyre. Nice when almost molten, below par when at normal temperatures, murderous in the wet.

I have 255/35 18 Kumho Ecstas all round. Very good price and stick like st to a blanket. Night and day after the Toyos I had before.

Interesting, what Kumho's do you have for road?

I use their V70 trackday tyres which are brilliant but not their road tyres.

Will have to check later as it's up in the air awaiting a flywheel at the moment. I'll get back to you.

Arghh, don't mention trackday tyres. My head is full of codes as it is, just stick to road based tyres please.

I was quite tempted with the uniroyal's, the amount of rain that got dumped over the weekend, any tyre with rainsport in the title must be capable.

Toyo R1Rs are fantastic, The T1Rs are a bit of a budget tyre with poor adhesion qualities imho of course!

I've got Falkerns on mine which I'm picking up next week. Will see what they are like but I'm tempted to switch very quickly to AD08R's, Eagle F1's or P Zero's - which have been recommended by another Cerb owner as being great in the dry and in the wet.

My experience in the last five years for what it's work on other cars:

Volvo 850R. Had Falkerns, absolute kack, changed for Hankook V12 Evo's. Better in every respect, bad wear rate though.

On my Octavia VRS (mapped to 210bhp/330lb) - Hankook S1 Evo 2's (won Evo tyre test a couple years ago with Eagle F1's second), pretty good in wet and dry, poor wear rate. Changed to Eagle F1's, more dry grip, more wet grip, less tyre wear!

Elise - Hankook RS2's, great in the dry, lovely stiff tyre walls so good feel, but terrifying in the wet! Previously had AD07's, P Zero's, AO48's, all better by a massive margin.

These two quotes mention the Yoko's which I can't find in 225/35/18 size, just 225/40/18 which may cause rubbing issues. I know the 35's fit perfect so reluctant to change. Looking at the tread - surely that's a summer dry tyre, I can't see it being very good in the wet compared to a decent grooved tyre?

I think that's as much to do with the compound.

Will await responses from others with 18's as I'm in the same boat.

Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 225/35/18 87Y front, 255/35/18 94Y Asymmetric II rear here. I think the II version is just a later version.

I have Toyo R1Rs on mine and I am very happy with them and they are fine in the wet. The Rainsport 3s have been tried by a couple of people in the speed championship this year with good results.

Snap, but 17" wheels.

The only tyres I prefer to Goodyear Eagle F1s are my Michelin Pilot Super Sports which I've used for a while on one of my smaller engined Jags and recently replaced the latest design of Pirelli P-Zeros with on my XFR-S.

My 2000 4.5 now 4.7 has Toyo T1 Sports all round and have no complaints for fast road use wet or dry don't do track days and generally drive very smoothly helps look after the clutch/ gearbox/ tyres. I guess if you live in Scotland the Rainsport tyres might be useful!

I went for the Michelin Pilot Super Sports on the front but 225/35/18's. A lot better than Toyo T1R's in my opinion.

They don't do Pilot Super Sports for the rear in 255/35/18 so had to go for PS3's, not as good as PSS's but again I think they are better than my previous T1R's

Both were pretty reasonably priced at mytyres

I've been looking for a set of R1R's everywhere, but stocks seem to be limited or non-existent. Does anyone know of a good source?
