Newbie, before I buy can I have some help please?

Hi everyone.
Firstly thanks for all the information I have gathered after weeks of trawling through the archives.
I'm pretty clued up on my childhood dream car now. So, time to buy one!
Before I do, can anyone in the Southampton are help me with a dry run on my garage please. I've done the checks with a tape 3 times, but I want to avoid the inevitable of getting one home and not get her into bed. 😉
