I seem to only be able to find one of my key fob button thingy's to get in the car (not sure that is quite the right technical term...). How easy is it to get hold of another one? Also the one I can find is very temperamental. Any obvious ways to improve it? I often stand pressing and waving it at the car for a few mins to either lock or unlock it.

The black boxes (very technical term you understand) for the alarm are in the helmet hole between the rear seats, and the sensor is at the top of the rear screen - the little black round thing with the flashing light (another technical term).
Mine has never worked from more than 2cm away - so I just put the fob on the glass by the sensor, and it mostly works first time.
It's always worth changing the batteries, as if it's been sat in a pocket and inadvertantly pressed, you could have worn them down a bit.

yep the head trick works well ... only fries a few brain cells at a time ...
one of my key fobs doesnt work tothers fine
also..
the Jobby that pushes into the imobiliser thingymebob is starting to get a bit twichy on enabling the start circuit ..
was told when I got the car this was the way to enable if i didnt hit the starter button within 45 secs of getting in car ...
now I know I can push the alarm fob again to do the same thing without re arming the alarm / locking the car ...
so any how are these bits easy to get duplicates or is it new alarm time when they stop working?

I press the fob thingy and the indicators go once and I can get in. I then press the fob thingy again and the flashing light above the immobiliser goes off and I can start the engine. If I can't get the fob to work then dipping the immobiliser key thingbob in the hole by the flashing light has the same effect and the engine will start.
Get out press fob thingy button again, indicators flash about 4 times and car is locked.
It's getting the fob to work consistently that I am struggling with.

snap, I only have one and been meaning to get a second.

Can't help with where to get a new fob but if you are having problems with it not working as well as it should do I would definitely recommend putting some fresh batteries in it. Still may not be able to operate the alarm from 10 yards away (don't think any TVRs do this!), but new batteries can make quite a difference.

It's probably not the batteries.
More likely knackered contacts in the fob.
As for not working more than 10yds away since Carl supplied me with 2 new fobs for the Chim--its zzzzaaap from nearly 50 yds away.
I kid you not.
I only had one fob and wanted a second but did not have the red code thingy. Took it to HHC as I needed a few other things doing and they got a second fob done and presented me with the red plastic code all for £50. There were 2 possible ways - sometimes it is easy to do just using the old fob but sometimes the whole thing needs resetting etc. Luckily mine turned out to be the cheaper/quicker option.
