One - neither the drivers side door buttons, inside or out will work, nor the boot switch. Both went a few days ago after trying to turn over a reluctant engine with a battery that didn't have the juice to fire up. Was advised it could be the fuse so went to Halfords but putting a new fuse in didn't sort it, swapped another 10a fuse from the existing ones in to see it was just the fuse type but still nothing. Any thoughts or advice as to what iut could be. ps - When i press the inside button the window will drop down a small way but that is it.

Two - because of the problem with the door buttons I left the window open on the car so I can reach in to the door pull and last night our supposedley secure underground car car park was raided by the local scum who made off with the front plate from the casette deck. It was the original one from manufacture - Pioneer KEH P3730R, nothing special and god knows what use a front plate on its own is to these parasites but if anyone has one floating around having upgraded their own ICE I would be happy to buy it - on the assumption they are interchangeable.

Cheers AJ

am off to Cambridge soon so if anyone replies it will be monday before I'm back on line but thanks for any input.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but it sounds like the battery is dead. Have you tried charging that first.

The fuse they are talking about is more than likely the 100 amp charging fuse. Do a search, there's been a few threads recently about it with pictures.

If the battery has been flat, try pulling the leads out of the door control box in the boot (on top of the tank), leave for a minute, and then reconnect.

hi andy - battery was replaced three months ago at 24k service at APM and car is running ok now. Only prob is with these two things - drivers door button and boot switch. Everything else works fine, started first time this morning.

Had had another issue with an intermittent starter motor problem even though that was replaced four months ago. I ran the battery low when trying to start it and wouldn't fire which was when the prob above happened. Jumped the battery and took it for a drive to charge it up and fine now but have this door and boot problem.

Hi AJ,

I was thinking of updating my stereo, maybe I will now. Have you checked ebay?

I have had loads of problems with the doors on my car. I have found out that I have a broken wire in the harness in the passenger door, and the control box was getting totally confused.

If your car is now running ok, i.e the battery is fully charged I think there are two possibilities;

The control box could have just got confused, unplug the multi pin connector that goes into the box for a minute or so, you only need to unplug the power socket. (the one with only the red and black cable going into it.)

The second possibility is that you have fried the control box, more of a chance if you jumped the car. If this is the case then depending how bad it is you may get away with new chips inside or you may need a new box.

If the reset with the power doesn’t work then let me know as I have a spare box that you could try out.

Don’t mean to teach you to suck eggs but the control box is the one on the far right of the fuel tank looking forward.

Let me know how it goes. If it’s neither of these the I have a wiring diagram for the system.

Hi Nick and others thanks for input - now back online so will check out the various suggestions. Absolutely of teaching grandmother to sucks eggs as have not got a clue when it comes to the byzantine inner workings of a Cerb so any advice and information gratefully accepted. Will check out these things later and update. The car is working fine except for the driver door and the boot lock switch.

I upgrade my stereo just a couple of weeks ago and have the original Pioneer unit rattling around in the boot.

You're welcome to it for the price of a small contribution to a stainless handbrake handle! (or some other completely negotiable helping-a-fellow-Cerb-owner kind of offer)
