France - advice
Discussion
Going on a weeks break with my mates to France beginning of August. (planning early!!)
I am taking the opportunity for me and a mate to go in the Tivs' (hes got a red glow T350).
How much is fuel in france - do they do 98?
If not i will need some octane boost.
Taking a can of optimax just in case.
Anything else i need (and YES i have got Euro cover on RAC!!
)
Not got a speed detector, but my friend has - i here the rozzers are a bit keen on them....
It should have just had its next service so should be sweet.
and maybe have fitted in a remap so i can do some serious T350 bashing!!
Hope he doesnt read this!

Thanks....actually just read a similar query from 'cooky' in general section. No bother about the fuel then...
Hope the roads are decent along with the weather.
Is it france where you get timed along the motorways...
Think they did this in portugal....but when we were over there for the Euros last year there was always a very thin lane with no one in it and no barriers.......seemed rude to queue up!

Whatever you do, dont take it,
90 euro fine for speeding........

Forget the bl**dy autoroutes, FFS.
The nationales are at least as safe, much more entertainning, less subjected to speed controls (except in obvious spots, of course) and FREE.
An you will get proper scenery depending on where you go.

Fuel : 95 is around 1.05 euros, 98 (to be found nearly everywhere) is 1.10 euros per liter.
Speeding : Our politics have found a goog way to steel more money to us, they are saying that people who are driving fast are murderers and need to be treated as though, so they are putting speed cams eveywhere. The only trouble is that they put their traps where you are sure to get caught(strait 4 line motorways...), not where they are needed (near schools, city...)
It has become politicaly incorrect to say that you are driving fast (or having a fast yellow cerb)
To resume WATCH OUT !!!
As for myself, I am protected by a nice black box that works perfectly against lasers an magnetic devices.
You can use yours in France but be VERY discrete ( take it away at the toll (cord included or plug it into your phone), hide or throw it away it if you think you might get arrested. If you need more info about that email me directly (I buy them in UK)
Remember that they can't take your car if caught ( only if the detector is mounted fixed in the car)
The maximum fine ( 50 km/h over the limit ) is 900 euros, if you pay they have to let you go.(More info => email)
In august motorways are quite crowded so take a GPS and enjoy !
If you are wondering wether yellows are really that fast come to the Riviera (near Monaco) we could meet around .
Service : If a trouble call Marc MINNE (TVR Belgium) he will know where to go. If you are in my region call me.

Thanks for all the tips and keep em coming. We are thinking of mid/west France possibly as far down as Dordogne so we have a resonable drive but not longer than 1 day door to door.
Was thinking of Dover-Boulogne on speed ferries as it's £50 return- anyone got any experience? Especially interested in whether the 350 and Cerb will actually get on without ripping the sumps off!
Also sounds like I should leave the road angel in the glove box. It won't work over there anyway but I'm still gonna take it for the UK side and seeing as I have a 'charismatic' speed sensor at the moment sometime's it's the only way of knowing how fast I am going!
And as for this 350 bashing, deep down he knows he has already lost!
cheers
