Sorry more wheels.
Discussion
I use RL7s with R1Rs but the issue now is that tyre supply is becoming difficult. If the current MSA tyre regs are confirmed in 2017 there won't anything to use as all the current high performance tyres will be outlawed. The new kid on the block is the Rainsport 3 but that is not available in Cerb sizes in 17".

OK so looking at tyre choices it looks like 18inch wheels will be needed.
Please can someone confirn the offset and PCD i need to search for?
Martin, keep me posted on this and perhaps we can organise a group buy as I'm being told NOT to consider putting slicks onto Spiders. Please can someone confirn the offset and PCD i need to search for?
I'm looking at wheels as well, these are on my wish list. Looking at 18x8 et37 F and 18x9 et35 R. Getting a bit fed up with the hexagonal lead spiders.
Wish I had a black car to put them on
I don't know what they weigh though. As an aside, why isn't weight specified on wheels advertised for sale?! Never understood that.

That's £2.4k for the set inc vat. Not cheap, but not nasty either.

I wouldn't put slicks on spiders either.I am thinking of some rays Volks at the moment but hey are looking like £1600+vat a set, a bargain compared to Mr Pants Christmas wish items.

Advan are proper.. I'd imagine they are light!Wish I had a black car to put them on

The last time I did the whole searching for wheels thing was about three years ago so I'm sure lots could have changed! The best I could find was the Rays Volk CE28N. Came out quite a bit lighter than the Advan at the time.
However any wheel you buy will be better and lighter than the spiders anyway, so my argument would be why spend all that money on wheels like these when you can get the compomotive MO6. Not a slight as the Jap wheels (about 2-3kg) but from memory are only about £1200 per set. The bonus with a compomotive is that they seem unbreakable!

I changed a knackered Spider rim a few months back and have started to get a few ideas of what to replace them with in the future. Found several I liked but not with the correct offsets. When I contacted Compomotive recently regarding the M06, they were only available in 8x18 and not 9x18 that I’d like for the rear.
Came across these Works wheels Emotion T7R (http://www.driftworks.com/work-wheels-emotion-t7r.html) which look similar to the Spiders. They seem to be around £1000 including VAT for a set of 4, but don’t appear to offer the size/offsets to suit the Cerbera in 18”.
However, they do a 2 piece version (http://www.driftworks.com/work-wheels-emotion-t7r2p.html) which you can spec to whatever PCD, width and offset you like and are made to order which come in at between £1400 and £1500 including VAT according to their website. No idea how robust the wheels are but they claim they are “Flowformed” which appears to be the same manufacturing process that the ADVAN wheels use.

The team dynamics 1.2 are quite a good wheel. They are made to suit with any rim width and any offset you want so there is total flexibility. They are also much lighter than standard wheels. Bear in mind though that you can save weight on the wheels but if you change to track biased 1B or 1C tyres that they weigh a lot more which offsets roughly the weight saving on the wheels. The reason is simple - the 1B side walls are much much stiffer which keeps the contact patch on the road flat. All 1A tyres such as the T1R have soft side walls and don't work as well on the limit as a result. Even the rain sports which are very good fall in this category.
The EU legislation on tyres changed this year and the MSA has responded by re categorising the tyres. The "old" road legal semi slick track biased 1B tyres like the V60 kuhmo, Yoko, dunlops and most of the others are now 1C and will no longer be road legal. The only really good tyres that have remained as 1B and are road legal are the new Toyos R888R.
The tyre sizes for those are on the Toyo website and they roughly match the R888 old list. The choice on 17 inch wheels in particular works well for a cerb. You can get 225 45 17 for the front and 255 40 17 for the rear. I won 2 championships using those sizes so they work well and the car is balanced front/rear with that amount of rubber.
Having spoken at length to alan meaker the Toyo Motorsport technical director last week the new R888R should have more grip than the outgoing R 888. I am not sure how long they will last if you really push them though. On my cerb I used to overheat R888's in. 2 laps of fast tracks like goodwood and then they became greasy and utterly useless. I will have a new set of the R888R on my griff for the 2016 sprint season so we will see how well they work in anger.
Hope this helps.
