Morning chaps, after some advice
Few weeks back I took the Cerb off the road for some TLC and In the background been waiting for my ECU to be repaired. I got my ECU back but the car still ran very rough (Just like before miss firing and running on 4 cyl)The car ran fine on a temp ECU. My ECU had various components replaced, So could it have lost the map and need reprogramming or is it likely to still be faulty?
Just want to throw some ideas around.

The maps are (I believe) stored in the 27256 EPROM chip, so unless that has wiped itself due to excessive UV exposure of similar, they should still be there
The Dallas battery powered RAM chip next to it is (I believe) used to store the logs, adaptives and service interval
This can be replaced / reset without causing the car any issues
If you'd like I can burn you a copy of the 27256 EPROM chip from my car, a 4.2 V8, or I have an image from a Speed Six that was in my spare ECU when I bought it, and see if that helps your car
BTW I spent some time taking my ECU and the code in it apart so do know a little bit about what I'm on about
Decryption of my MBE ECU EPROM

That would be brilliant.
I haven't touched an ECU of this type before so when i get it back i could try. Whats involved?
I have already setup my laptop to read the ecu etc.

- open up the ECU by unscrewing the 4 torq screws around the edges
- side the top off
- Locate the EPROM chip (it's the one with the label on it and has 28 pins)
- Very gently ease this out using a flat blade screw driver (as wide as possible) by levering each end in turn so that the pins gently come out of the socket
- Pop it into your EPROM reader, or send it to someone like me
- Dump the EPROM
Here's a picture of mine on my spare ECU on my desk, with the EPROM removed showing the socket and if you dump yours I can compare it against some of the images I have here (*if I have a matching one) to see how similar it is etc.
You should go ahead with all of this, but I'll just add in that my car did this for about a year - on my ECU it just didn't work. On Barry from TVR Ecosse's 4.2 ECU it drove fine. My ECU went to Powers for repair and came back worse than ever.
After much frustration (some may remember my thread) I called Joolz at Kits and Classics to speak about getting it diagnosed on a rolling road to find out what the hell was wrong with it and find out why it dropped cylinders whenever the accelerator pedal was pressed. It had new coils, Magnecor HT leads, plugs, lambdas, throttle pots, coolant temp sensors and endless set-ups.
Joolz told me to change the HT leads again, which I did, which cured it completed.

This has just jogged my memory, I owe you a chip to read for a 4.7 with short induction don't I.
That would be greatI think we're both in central London so I'll drop you a PM after the Christmas/New Year break and try and get that one downloaded as well
