Starter Motor

I think its sticking on. Turning the car off and trying again solves the problem, Its only happened a few times. Whats the solenoid, how might this affect it, is it a sign that the starter might be on its way out (or not necessairily?) and how much are new starter motors anyway? I expect I'll need to buy one, one day.

If the car is from a delaer go back and demand a new starter. A recon is about £200 I think.

Usually is a sign that they are on their way out. Mine did this a year or so ago, until eventually it gave way completely - about £250 inc fitting for a recon one

Take it back to your dealer and get a new one, or the solenoid repaired.

I keep a spare starter motor in the garage, not that it's a common occurance!

my s. motor went the other week. main
dealer price,£450 plus eight hours lab. austec
repaired it. £150 for the part three hours lab,
cause they're clever. they also picked it up
the same day. £327 all in. BRILLIANT.

Bloody hell those prices dont half vary!! Austec really are the Nuts!

Its booked in for Monday, they said they'd stick a brand new one in. Would I be able to tell if they had stuck a rcon in, does it matter, and why is it an 8 hour job?

I know Im asking a question that can only be answered vaguely, but how long might a starter motor last, an average life span?

because they found a quicker way than the
advised dealer time to get it out. i may
be wrong but i'me sure paul said they remove
the fuel rails so it's quicker. a main dealer
would only stick to the advised fac. method.

lmao I must be foooooking brill then, my record's 38 minutes from drive in to drive out.. can't think it would take anybody more than an hour though?
where the hell do they get 8 hours from? If that is the actual time taken then they really are taking the piss.

Mine went last month,cost me £217 for a recon. exchange and took me 2hrs tops at home in the garage to do, and im no ace mechanic!!
