boring mode enabled: anyone decatted a spd6?

hi, the bug has me. oooh dear. im in that place where im feverishly reading posts about things, wondering what to go for next... dear oh dear.. i thought id cured myself of all this, but it appears ive had a relapse...oh, crap.
so, as the post says, anyone know of a decatted spd 6? theres a good place local to me (power and performance in norwich) that make custom decat pipes (they did one on both me scoobies, but i was younger and more impetuous then. less bald too) and they arent very expensive. will i need to get an ecu reset/ tune up/ ecu + pot fettling afterward? i read loads of posts of people reporting better throttle response on a v8 installation, but im wondering if this is the case with the spd6 lump?
also, whats the fine up to for running a decatted car nowadays? a squillion pounds and death by stoning?

Can't say I know too much about SP6 and decats, although I know a lot about AJP8's and decats.
I bought my 4.5 over 3 years ago with an existing decat. I've enjoyed said period of time hooning around without one pull from the BiB (over 30k miles). The only time I've attracted attenton from the BiB was because of my stick-on number plate (please refer to my profile for details).
I came out of Staples with a large box of A4 paper and was given a £30-wonder in the car park for having a stick-on number plate. "Sir, the purpose of a number plate is for other road users to be able to see it - its not for helicopters and low-flying aircraft".
I don't know whether it improves performance, but it sure-as-hell increases the grin-factor. If I may make a suggestion... Get a decat a.s.a.p.
It might not meet with the latest Kyoto Agreement guidelines, but when compared with the Americans' flouting of the rules, it's peanuts. Enjoy the Cerbera while you still can (it ain't gonna last long).

I've decatted my SP6 - the intent being to get a better exhaust note.
I have noticed some smoother running and I certainly get more pops and bangs on the overrun, but not an enormous amount of difference to be frank.
I have not had any engine management settings changed. It must have done about 15K miles since I had it done. Just put the cats back for the MOT.

good man yourself, thats what i like to hear: blatant disregard of the single most importanat law in the country, nay the world, the size and position of number plate decals.
a copper once tailed me in my second impreza for about 12 miles, i could see him popping his head out in traffic about twelve cars back and i eventually got bored of waiting for him to get up the nerve and pulled into a shop car park and got out and waited. He BLOCKED my car in with his fiesta and leapt out saying "your numberplate sir, legal is it?" (for, it too was a stick on jobby)(so to speak) resisting the temptation to say "thats your job innit? do i ask you to clean toilets? (job description glammed up for any girls reading)" i said "yep, of course it is". he then proceeded to get out a 1940's leather bound tape measure and MEASURED EVERY LETTER AND NUMERAL ON MY NUMBERPLATE. much to his disgust, and my surprise, it was legal. This had taken 20 minutes so far, and im just itching to make some sarcastic comment and flick him both rods, but knowing that he'd love to make my life hell i say "great, thats good news. knew it would be". And he says, and this is the bit i REALLY love, "but sir, i must warn you, if the numerals were any smaller they would NOT be legal, and you might find yourself in trouble". Right, good. thanks for that. best not put my car through the wash on the wool setting then. I was just happy he didnt shoot me then and there for having the temerity to be an honest, tax paying, fully insured/ taxed/ mot'd citizen.
Oh, and by the way, where he had blocked me in was near great yarmouth seafront which was at the time, literally, awash with drunken 12 year olds in novas with stereos they can hear in papea new guinea. still, good job there around eh? makes me sleep better at night.
