Right, for all those who were curious (and poor old Matt with his nervous tension disorder), here are some Cerbie Baby pics.
The seat is a Graco Autobaby with the Autobase. The base itself is clamped in place by the seat belt, and then the Autobaby seat just drops and clicks on to it - so you don't have to play spiders web with the seat belt every time you want put the child in the car or take them out.
After much back breaking anaomical origami I finally conceeded tht the Graco seat wouldn't fit in the back of a standard car (1996 with Cerb seats, not Tuscan ones). I am however inclined to believe it would be possible with two modifications:
1. Move passenger front seat forward by about 2-3 inches on its rails.
2. Remove the padding from the rear seat-back. Should be possible for a small fee to take the padding off. Obviously this would negate the possibility of carrying anything other than the baby in the back, but would be reversible in 9-12months time.
However, it does fit quite successfully into the front. You could with a little squeezing fit an average sized Meerkat into the back afterwards, but only just. For my purposes (getting around while the wife is elsewhere) it'll suit very well, plus I can see and interact with the child rather than them being tucked away behind me. Moreoever it keeps them a little further away from the exhausts!

thanks red, thats kind of you (or as we say out here, thas a rum 'un). im particularily pleased as my follow up question would have been where to keep my small-average sized meercat, so truly, youre post is the gift that keeps on giving.thanks again mate, im off to buy an interior for my car now. that was the point of your post, right?
on the downside, your car looks nicer than mine. booo. expect it to be torched by the morning (at least for once itll allow you to see in the dark though). git. ill show you... show them all...
and for the record, its not a nervous disorder, its mild bladder weakness with an interesting hybrid/ bonus round of bowel turrettes. quite a site at dusk, i can tell you.
riding along in my automobile, my baby wedged beside me at the wheel (im tall, so this is the only way its gonna work) ((C) C. Berry Esq.)
right then, see you down there/ up there/ round there,
mjb
