A question for those that have had them apart for whatever reason....I have given up with the old originals and bought a pair of ACT back plates....what sealant can you recommend, or indeed avoid please.

The original factory version appeared to be more of a rubbery glue as well as filler and was tougher than normal squidgy silicone.

I did the same as you and opted for Tiger Seal. Ended up not using any mechanical fasteners as that stuff is overkill for the application and has lasted well.
