Hi all, I need help again. I've took my interior door panel off and removed glass for S and D to do some work and I was looking at the wing mirror. I only had a quick look before I dropped it off but I didn't see an obvious way of removing it. I need to remove them ready for paint. Any tips for removing the whole unit and then the mirror itself would be greatly appreciated, cheers everyone.

The mirror is bolted through the door with 2x 40mm long countersunk bolts, fairly straighforward with some giggery pokery. FUnny, as Im just about to put my mirrors back on today after painting!

The glass is held in place by clips, basically just move the mirror to facilitate getting your fingers behind it and pull firmly getting an even pressure over the one side of the glass, do it from the short side, not the longer side and it will just pop off.

Oh, and do it from the side furthest from the car first, there are 2 wires for the heater element, if you do it from the closer car side, you may break them off easily. Also, do NOT try and pull the wires off the glass they are very brittle and may break. Use a small pair of needle nose pliers to hold the bottom of the tag and pull off then!

If it goes wrong the heated mirrors are £7 - 88-95 VW Corrado. Or rather they were two years ago, just checked and they are now £9.

I have found that pushing it into the garage too close to the wall works. Refitting is unfortunately not the reverse of removal.

Cheers for all the tips guys. When I pick it up again I now know where to start. Are all Cerbera wing mirrors heated and if so do they come on automatically or is there a button somewhere? Sounds like a dumb question but I never thought a TVR would have heated mirrors, it doesn't like rain never mind ice.

The heaters on mine come on with the heated rear window

It might / mightn't be the same on all Cerbs

By the way, I totally forgot to say that the access to said bolts is through the top! If you fold the mirror inwards, it reveals one of the bolts, if you fold it outwards, it reveals the other bolt. you will probably need a long 4mm ball socket allen key as you can't access it very easily. (Whats new?)

Yes, the mirrors come on with the heated rear screen.

That makes a lot of sense, before I dropped it off I had a quick look but just couldn't figure it out. That has just saved me a lot of head scratching, cheers.
