Cerbera thoughts and running details
Discussion
hi,
im looking to get into TVR ownership, currently have a S2 111r elise but ive always wanted a TVR.
i like the MK1 Tuscans but am put off by engines, is a cerbera likely to be more reliable and service wise can you diy look after them and not effect resale that much or do people want them to be looked after by a specialist?
i did like the 4.5 that sold afew weeks ago that was black and had a very yellow interior, also a grey 4.2 that seems to have sold quite quickly that was 30k.
any thoughts on this one, http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...
seems strong money or do people think they are all going that way?
thanks alastair

I would just like to say please don't be put off a Speed 6 engined car, there is nothing wrong with the Speed 6 it is a great engine, it had its problems but they are all sorted now by the likes of STR8SIX and Powers Performance.
Will a Cerbera be more reliable than a Tuscan? well hard to say really as there is no real reason for either to be unreliable if you buy a sorted one.
Prices are on the up so I would not be phased by a £30K+ Cerbera.

I have nothing to do with the seller and l don't use x-works but all the work has been carried out by them and they are arguably the best in the TVR world.

thanks, i like some of that but im not a fan of the early light up front i am afraid!http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...
looks a top car otherwise
Prices are definitely on the up. I watch the market closely as I harbour ideas about selling my 4.5 red rose. Absolutely nothing wrong with the speed six cars, just like with the V8's buy on condition, and a fat file of invoices to show its been cared for. Good luck with your search, cerbera' are epic cars....
As others have said, don't discount the S6 engines. Personally I love them, dare I say more than the AJP8......the rasp on the way up the rev counter is intoxicating. Totally different to my current 4.2 Cerb which has a different but also entertaining soundtrack. The torque with the 8 is very handy on a track though!!
They are fantastic cars and probably the most mythical of all TVR's in my view.... only a Sag could tempt me out of my Cerb...and then only because of the way it looks....

Car in add looks great and a new front end paint with twin light mod and HIDs is only about £1,500? and being the mk1 Cerb even changing the rear clusters is easy if wanted too.
If you want a Cerb go drive one and the little details just have a way of getting in the budget as every drive is an occasion. Mod it till it say you I saw.
Goodluck

Don't forget that you have to add £11K for Moonraker Black, as it's the fastest colour .....

Yes, don't be put off by the Speed 6, there are several companies who can fix it for circa £10-£15k.

Very true..
Proper Cerb's are V8.. I'd buy on condition and a thick history to show it has been cared for DIY or by a specialist.. Specialists don't always do a better job than a DIY'er so judge it with the car in front of you..
They can be a little fiddly to work on, but they are relatively simple creatures.
