I was going to post this as a reply, but then just started rambling on.....
Just interested to know the reasons why people have bought their Cerbera, and also if there is an owner on here you hasn't seen the good side of the BMW's speed limiter?
I think there a many reasons why I bought the Cerb, mine were.
1) Its a beautiful classic piece of motoring history.
2) It Sounds amazing
3) Its British
4) It accelerates like a bullet
5) It keeps on going well above the German cars rev limiters.
6) It handles like a sports car should, know your ability and the roads limits and you won't get hurt, but it will be a lot of fun.
7) In EVO there is nothing really for the money that car touch its BHP/ton figure! so for pub bragging it is top
8) And most importantly it had child seats in the back!
For me it was all 8.
Now I think people who don't experience all of these things have probably wasted a lot of money. For instant why waste your money on a car that can go to 180, and never get anywhere near that yourself? I personally think the only way you can safely experience the straight-line performance of these cars is on a motorway (or racetrack) as they are very fast and A roads have tractors on them.
Acceleration is one thing, but you are almost breaking all speed limits in first gear, and the great thing about these cars is that they keep accelerating. A decent hot hatch will feel quick to 60, some even to 80, but up to 150, now that's the Cerbera! So when people go on about its all about acceleration, I agree, but in order to experience the Cerbera's acceleration you are going to be doing illegal speeds.
Now I drive like a saint in towns and round built up areas, mainly so people can admire point 1 and 2 above and it makes me feel good that I am brightening up peoples days, as appose to the monotony of seeing yet another focus.
Point 3 is just a fact, and a bloody good one
I think if you get anywhere near the cars limits of handling on the road, you either own a large piece of land, or a driving too bloody fast and will kill yourself or someone else.

One of the first things my Father said when he saw my old Chim was "you're lucky you can buy something so good and so British" - he and I had both given up on Rover and defected to Saab eight years previously after spending so long trying to support the local market...
With you on all of that Blue me old mucker. I laugh in derision at the back pages of Sprint - 50% or so of the car ads have "no wet weather", or "no track days" or, "summer use only - or all three! You have to laugh, or else you'd cry! What's the point in owning something like that, and then just tootling around on highdays and holidays? Grrrrr.

Lol, slip of the tongue... anyway if the Scots, Welsh and Irish are in too, then TVR make more money and we might get parts for a bit longer!
I never understand how anyone could only drive it when its sunny is this country either! No wonder people only put 2K miles a year on! After sitting on the train and tube for 3 hours a day, driving it 2 miles to the gym and the extra 20 miles on the way home makes the train seem worth it!

Incidentally, re. speed limiters, I went into the Merc dealership at the weekend to have a play with the sales guys, as I sometimes do when I'm bored. Went through all the motions of ordering a brand new SLK 55 AMG (I have no intentions of buying one, don't worry!) Had them chasing all over the country for one in one of the Designo colour range, doing ANOTHER bout of chasing over finding said car but with a grey interior, etc. etc. This went on for the best part of an hour... I'd got all the paperwork in front of me, was getting them to chase up on how much they could get the Tuscan underwritten for as part exchange, etc. I had been enjoying the coffee, the chit-chat, the comfy chairs, etc. I was already a little peeved that they were STILL insistent that I can't have a testdrive till I've paid the deposit on one. But I began to get really annoyed when he started to go on about how it was 480 BHP, which should be a figure humbling to any TVR driver. I pointed out that it's actually only 360. And that my Tuscan's putting out 400. And weighs half as much. And he started getting snotty. Oh dear.
So, the point to all this... I asked him the leading question "Any idea what the 0-180 is on it?"... "Sir, all Mercedes Benz cars are limited to 155mph, just like all other production cars, due to legislation". "Oh, that could be a problem. TVRs aren't limited you see, and I do enjoy continental driving holidays, VMax runs down airstrips, etc. Could I get it derestricted?". "You'd never need to drive this car at those speeds, though, sir. And no, derestricting it would invalidate your warranty". "Hmmm, that IS a problem. I might not need to go those speeds, but I choose to do so. And there's little point in me buying a new car if I'd have to invalidate the warranty within a week. Maybe I should just go wander across to the Aston dealership and buy a real supercar..."
Ah... so much fun it should be illegal! Enjoy your "real" cars, all... there's nothing like the look, the sound, the experience, and the overwhelming sense of superiority when you hit 155 racing some souped up euro-cruiser down the M1 and suddenly see him shoot back in your rear view mirror having hit the limiter head-on.
