two things to tell you.one of which is great.
Discussion
hi all,
first things first, id like all my new friends on PH to know that im now a daddy!! little baby daisy was born today at 5.37 pm, weighing 6lb 6 oz's and even though im biased, is quite pretty (as babies go). im TOTALLY in love. just wanted to share that all with you.
secondly, and this is fundamentally more crap, i had to drive the cerbie to the hospis thi morning (missus was already there) in the cold and ice and car was fine all the way there. took it very easy, (though as it turns out i could have taken another 12 hours and still been early)and car was just great. nothing to worry about. most important gig of the year, done. good old TVR. but, as i walked away from the car, as i gave it my cursory "i love you" glance oevr my shoulder, i noticed id done an appaling job of parking so i thought id just repark. in the 1 min this took to do, the MIL light stayed on the whole time. "i dont care" i thought, "itll sort itself out whilst im in the hospis". id assumed that as id pulled up and parked on a hill some water had run forward and soaked the sensor that has been generating eroneus MIL warnings all week, and that on restart later it would have dried and or would dry as i got moving again. BUT, when i returned to the car the MIL popped up again and stayed on. and since i was in a blizzard i had no choice but to move the car and go home. slowly of course. i checked the oil and water at the first garage i came too both fine. in fact, though i pottered home, the car seems absolutley fine in every way, temp, pressure, idling etc. ive now disconnected the battery in the vain hope of wiping out what im hoping is a non fault based error message. does this sound familiar to anyone? if it helps, it is very cold here today. id really appreciate youre thoughts asap as im hoping to pick up hayley and daisy tommorow to bring them home. if it sound familiar/ fatal to anyone, id best get on and hire/ borrow/ steal a car.
also, if i didnt mention it im now a dad. i just love the sound of that.
thanks gang, anything you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
best,
nervous

thankyou. nice to know so many people are sending their best, even without knowing wht a hateful ass i am. kinda restores your faith in humanity durnit?
thanks again gang. all of your kind words will be passed onto she who must be obeyed.
and, while im on, can i just say, childbirth: pah. theyd moan alot less if they knew the true pain of shaving everyday. and nobody offers us drugs to ease the suffering. (lights dynamite then flees for the hills)(im only feeling brave cos shes staying at the hospital!).
best,
Daddy, Daddy Cool.

Congratulations Matt and Mrs Matt
The MIL could be a whole host of things, including the cold and damp.
A quick search just on MIL brings loads of tips, suggestions etc, but as you
have your hands full right now, I'd part with some cash, let an expert look at it
and just enjoy the 'family' moment.
Nice one

Thanks GC, thats very kind of you. you lot on here are so great, what a truly loveley bunch of folks. thankyou.
youre right about shipping it out to the dealer, i was just really hoping that someone would say one of those "they all do that mate" things that is so often the case. had a review through the previou threads on mil and i cant find anything that fits. i dunno, i just had really hoped/ planned to bring the bubby home in some style, rather than in some kia magenta hire car. oh please oh please oh please let the disconnect the battery theory cure it (insert fingers crossed here).
thanks again folks, really.

thankyou K1 CERB, youre right i know, i just wanted to do this, i dunno, how i thought about it so many times. silly, huh? i know that doesnt make any sense, but for me, its not the big things, its the details that are important in life, and that moment was a detail that id thought about a great deal. but youre right, and i know how dumb that sounds.
in the meantime, if anyone can suggest anything, id still really appreciate heaing it, my dealers bloody miles away and it will be a giant pain in the ass (and after today, i know my way around those) to get down there and get the loan car blah blah blah and then go back blah blah blah. its all daisy time, its all our time. and its too precious to waste tracking around sunny norfolk.
thankyou so much folks, again, im absoluteley blown away by how nice youve all been.

thanks eddie, wise word indeed. luckily, daisy is probaly less likely to spill sick, sweets or milk in my car than my mates, so im considering it the lesser of two evils. plus, daisy probably wont honk the horn and shout 'lay-deez' at every passing poor unsuspecting woman.
thanks again eddie,
N and D.

hey no worries there, we actually got rid of my sports car to get the cerb, this is me compromising!!! (my missus i TINY and cant drive and is chauffered about during the day by her mum and sisiter whilst im earning her money for shoes, so actually the cerb is ideal). thank gawd for that.
god, ive just realised tonite will be my last good nites sleep for the next 28 years. feck. feck feck feck.

Congratulations!
But remember, you're only about 1 1/2 years away from your first full-on tantrum experience...
Would a hateful ass thank everybody? Buy a Cerbera? Plus children's characteristics often skip a generation, so for the future, it's probably better if you're a hatefull ass so long as your parents were cool
Congrats on baby Nervous - but rather you than me. About the MIL light, these are cars with very little brain - bless them. Mine did this on about three occasions always when it got a bit confused starting up. All you need to do is get it re-set at a TVR place, they will then confirm that all is Ok with their laptop plugged into the cars brain. Dont worry it will be nothing.

superstar! thankyou ocean, thats greatly appreciated. will a disconnection from the battery for 24 hrs be an effective reset? failing that, have just bought a serial cable so that i can connect the laptop using the software one of your cool brethren sent me, can i do a reset from there?
thanks again ocean, put my mind at rest. well, about this at least.
