A Few Questions
Discussion
It struck me while adjusting the valve clearances on my 4.5 last week that the intake set up seems rather poor. The purple intake hoses all squashed together must cause all the cylinders to run diffrently. Why does the left hand airbox feed the right hand bank, would it not be better to have shorter intake (purple) pipes so they are not over lapping and squashed?
I'm sure there must be a reason..?
I also had a lot of trouble getting shims. Two of my exaust valves had 12 thou gaps and shim sizes of 2.90 but nobody could supply me with shims this big, any ideas?
One more thing, I have a 2001 RR, does any one know what sort of cable I need to hook up the lap top? It doesn't seem to be the same as the earlier ECU..
Thanks for any input in advance...

i was digging around mine last night, going from an old school point of view, long intake runners produce much higher velocity of intake gasses, especially when going from a large mouth on the airbox to a smaller outlet at the manifold.
that being said, i don't know if it actually helps... all i know is it's a royal pain in the backside getting to anything. i'm very tempted to just get some velocity stacks, or trumpets (think that's what they're called over here)... then its the air filters and the cold air intake problems, as well as the engine breather. the 4.2 has a much cleaner setup, don't know if it would be possible to convert to that.
can't help with the shims tho, sorry
