Called TVR Parts on Friday. 50mm banded ones are out of stock, due in at the end of the month, 30mm banded ones are in stock. Guess which mine is?
Was more than a bit miffed, as I have a car under restoration which needs a screen and I called a month ago because I'd heard a rumour they were running short, only to be told they had plenty in stock and I shouldn't believe those nasty Pistonheads threads.

Sorry to hear you're waiting too. Mine is also just coming out of a restoration and I am getting a bit impatient!
I think mine is the 30mm one. I'll go and check.
Hope yours turns up soon.
I wonder if the insurance company will pay for it, as their nominated provider could not supply one?
Are they bespoke items for the Cerbera?

Having the same issues with my screen! I "think" its the 50mm banding one, but I'm not sure!
Only thing I'm not sure is what banding my screen was, it was taken out to do the dash and subsequently disposed of when it was found to be de-laminating.
Any obvious way to tell from just a hole?!

I spoke to TVR parts myself about a 2 months ago and in typical form they were less than stellar with timings. Originally it was going to be 2 weeks. 4 weeks later its still going to be another 4-6 weeks, last time I spoke to them the timescale now was the end of march. I was told they were going to ring me, but they appear to have an issue doing this and so I think I might have to remind them again that I desperately need a screen....
Worth speaking to Alan or Paul Munn (I'm quite sure they had a couple in stock not so long ago)

Then the infamous inconsistency kicks in! Mine is a 1998 with a 50mm band at the top, TVR Parts say that the earlier cars are up to mid-97 and have a 50mm band??? I was under the impression that thick (50mm) screens were on the Series I cars 93 - 99 incl. but I was also told that this series all had sun visors so I guess that's near enough for Jazz.

) OK, so let me bore you some more with windscreen talk.
There seems to be a real problem here, in that there are no 30mm screens ( the popular ones) in the country. TVR Parts do say they have a stock of 50mm screens! Buy'em quick!
I've spoken to about 30 people today from the TVR and windscreen community. The plus point is that everyone is very helpful and at the very least give you another person to talk to. I didn't realise that there was such a strong community out there. So thanks all for the help and advice.
My calls also included the specialist breakers and there are no second hand ones either.
TVR Parts seem to have the only real source (I believe) from Pilkington in Finland. Not sure if this is because of the TVR rights or the ability to be a Pilkington customer.
This situation seems bizzare as the need to replacement windscreens must be fairly common.
There is a container load on the high seas at the moment apparently on their way to TVR Parts, which should be a few weeks away. Not sure how many, but I'm half tempted to buy a few or ten to stick in the shed as an emergency supply (for the wider community, not just me!).
Is this a new problem, or is this the norm?
Do the other models have a similar problem? I assume the Griffs and Chims are ok because there are more of them and therefore demand. But, what about the later cars? The early cars seem to be looked after well by Absolute TVR.
Maybe I'm making a big deal out of this, but my car will be off the road as a result of it and other people must be in a similar position.
What do you think?

Rear screens generally come out better and can be reused. The front screen is more likely to break when being removed. I had mine replaced a year or two ago with one a brand new in box one I found on gum tree of all places. I want my car resprayed properly which would mean the screen needs to come out but if they break it and there isn't a replacement then what.
What about a group buy. There was a heated group buy a few years ago would this be an option.

I happy to organise/help with a group buy. I have the space to store them if needed etc and can help fund it. It looks like a fairly secure investment to me!
Obviously screens are not the only issue, it's just that they are almost a consumable.

After replacing my original (19 years old) front screen 18months ago due to a cracked corner, it only took 6months until it started to delaminate.
To top it off, a supposed expert removed the rear screen at the same time to replace the rubber seal, and scratched it to bu***ry.
So, I will be in the market for both in the very near future - and I know where I won't be taking my business!
