Guys
I have the engine out and gradually stripping it down. Can anyone tell me the order of removing the pump assembly. I have taken the cog and backing plate off the front of the engine and can see the brackets holding the whole assembly in place but it looks as if the oil pump goes into the block and the sump needs to be removed first. Do I have to take the sump off to remove the pump assembly or does the assembly come out before the sump gets removed?
Thanks
Ian

All sorted - it become apparent as I took the sump off. Did TVR have shares in silicon?

Really impressed with your enthusiasm and wish you luck. Hope you'll post lots of pics showing your progress, as it does sound like you are taking on quite a challenge, especially as this is all new to you.

Thanks Paul

Its strange how TVR's have got me my enthusiasm back for tinkering with cars, back in the day I tinkered with Hillman Imps and Mark 1 escorts etc but a busy workalike, converting houses and kids saw me take the easier option with Golf GTIs and Audi Quattros etc. Having had the Griff for a few years now and stripped and tinkered with that I decided to buy a project cerb and this old knacker has sat on my drive for 12 months. The plan is a full nut and bolt rebuild and I was going down the LS route but having listened to AJP's and inspired by Paul (A1RAK) I have decided on going 4.5 supercharged I think.

I have loads of pictures of everything I have done, copious notes and bagged and labelled everything. With the support and help from people on here how hard can it be? I am just finding out!!

I will start a proper thread on the strip down and rebuild as I go along, I may even blog all of the notes and pictures for others if I get time.

Cheers
Ian
