A lead to nowhere it seems! Any thoughts??

So….removal of the f1 panel in my 96 4.2 was enlightening …. I have a thin gauge wire snaking its way around the engine bay originating close the clutch fluid access panel…….see photo…….then making its way past the battery and showing evidence of being frazzled by the manifold and then terminating in a Halfords style spade connector no where…….neatly coiled up and no obvious point as to where it could connect???

Any thoughts???

Its not standard, so one would assume its an old bonnet switch or some other ancillary?

Will get rid tomorrow....pointless it being there to get snagged / fried etc. Cheers.
