This morning was the first time ever that my Cerbera fail me, no fuel pump.

This evening I have checked the relay, it clicks but I don't know if the contacts are OK.

Fuse has 12volts on it but no volts at the pump.

What do people think is the likely cause, relay or immobiliser?

If the relay anyone know where I may be able to get one in the city tomorrow?

On my car it looks like the fuel pump relay is interchangeable with several others based on the final post from Jimm218.

Thanks Paul, tried swapping with the heated rear window relay, still no fuel pump.

That is only a 4 pin relay where as the fuel relay is a 5 pin unit but with the 2 switched outpost contacts linked with a single input pin.

I am starting to think it's the immobiliser.

Thanks for reminding me that I really need to get my immobiliser sorted whilst the car is on axle stands (for a change). The comedy value of both windows closing at random moments is starting to wear a little thin.

Thanks, just took the relay apart and the contacts are fine, zero ohms across them when the contacts are closed.

It looks like the immobiliser, bugger!

Ive had issues with mine. OPen the doors, boot, disconnect the battery for 5 mins.
Reconnect, have the fob handy as the alarm goes off.
It resets the immobiliser.

Mine tripped at a fuel station and again at 80mph in the outside lane of the M4. not fun cutting fuel pump and starter...

And also the MBE ECU apparently - I'll have to remember that.

I have had my car 7 or 8 years now and this is the first time this has happened. I am now hoping this is not a slow developing failure of the ECU.

Although if it is it may be an opportunity to add a knock sensor and push the map to the next level and try and release some more horses......how much is the latest MBE. And a couple of wide band lambda sensors?

You can imagine how tempting that would be for me, provided a known tested solution is available (I don't have the funds to be a guinea pig).

I know, temping but the risk of engine damage is a worry?

I think I have found the root cause of my problem, it seems I may have a dodgy wire in the ECU loom, more investigation over the weekend I think.

Must also have a look at ECU options and wide band lambda's.
