So I've started the slow task of disassembling my fuel rail in order to get to, and replace, the Starter Motor (*boy, looking at this, is this going to be a long job!)

After removing the fuel rail, my injectors are looking rather sorry for themselves...

Any advice on whether I should replace them with new, and if so what, or clean up and put on the new O-Rings I bought for them?

I've never had any miss-firing issues and they seem to have always worked perfectly, but just have lots of crud on them - pictures attached

Thanks!

Last year I had mine cleaned by InjectorTune, they cleaned seven and condemned one. That one faulty injector was probably in part responsible for my headgasket failures.

Get them cleaned and flow tested, it's worth every penny.

Good recommendation!

On the case - many thanks

I'm also reading up on what type they are:

4.2's appear to use Bosch 0280150744, rated at 214cc/min@36.3psi 16.0ohms 43bhp per injector - and will support 344hp at 85% duty at that pressure, as per this thread

Christ how long have they laid undisturbed, makes you wonder when the tappets were last done hehe.

As said, I'd get them cleaned and tested, they'll come back like new.

No problems - It's a 1997 4.2 AJP with 55,000 miles - from my owners folder (from the original owner)

"Nightfire Red Pearlescent, anthracite rims . Black interior with half leather

Full engine rebuild by TVR at 8K miles (March 2000)

'Top end' engine rebuild 28K miles (May 2002)

It was originally the Northern Ireland demo car"

Here's the injectors - they are being sent off for a clean as recommended and part number is 280150744 small number 572

At least they all match which shouldn't be taken for granted from other threads! (572 and 569 mixed)

I'll post up a picture when they come back cleaned just for comparison

Injectors are back from the cleaners and turns out, regardless of what they looked like to the eyes, they were already all good at an average of 62 cc's Flow

Cleaning them via http://www.injectorcleaning.co.uk/ and replacing the filter baskets has increased them to an even better avery of 65 cc's Flow

Now to fit them back and get the Fuel Rail cleaned - has anyone had their Fuel Rail powdered coated like this one from http://www.tvrecosse.co.uk/tvr-accessories.aspx - looks great IMHO?

Confused by the flow rate, over what time period was that?

Edited to add;
Forget that just looked it up, your test was at 50% flow for 30 secs. The 744 Injectors are rated at 214cc/min, so your cleaned ones come in at 260cc/min... All good...
