First time it's let me down

Engines turning over ok but there's not even a hint of it trying to start.

AA man looking at it so hope it's something simple, got a feeling it's fuel related.

Panic over, it lives again.

My drive is very steep, combined with 1/4 tank of fuel = no fuel getting to engine.

School boy error.

Mine is exactly the same, 1/4 of a tank actually means an empty tank, luckily I was parked on parents drive at the time and it was easily sorted with 5l of Optimax.

What confused me was that when you turn the ignition on, the fuel pump runs for about 2secs then shuts off.

So when you're cranking the engine over, is the pump running or stopped? Mine appeared to be stopped or is there some other magic supplying the fuel to the rail?
