front repeaters held in with witchcraft? Mirrors?

hi all,

i managed to get hold of myself some nice noooo clear indicators from the good people at crook bros for 12 quid per side (as opposed to the 75 per side plus vat as quoted by teee-veee-arrr)(actually, crook bros might be more appropriate for them) and wanna fit em on whilst im underneath the front putting in my chav upgrade spotlights.

soo... the new ones have a kind of brass screwthread kind of affair on them, but no nut. soooo...

are the old ones A) just screwed into the front valance via some kind of threaded hole B) held in place by a nut on tuther side or c) just masticked in place?

if i can get good purchase on the front can i just turn them out? or do i need to unseal the 'access' (ha!the irony) hole behind the front wing, which i recently did a splendid job of sealing up after my bulb upgrade?

or, is there some of kind of tool thingy (keep it clean people) that i can wedge behind the lense (you can kind of get access through the slot below the lens itself) and try and hold the possibly imaginary bolt in place?

or, do i just kick em in, break em out and replace? (if all of the above fail first, naturellement)

your advice would be appreciated on this topic of F-l-a-m-i-n-g importance.

Well, I'm very interested in how you'll get on, as I too have the very same type of clear lenses from Crook brothers sitting on my counter top.

From what I've read, you'll need to remove the larger rectangular access panel in the front wheel wells (below the circular one for the headlights) and then you can get access to the back of the indicators.

There is reputed to be some find of giant nut holding them in (hence the threaded bits) and there will undoubtedly be tons of mastic goo.

The brass thingy screws on to the bulb holder. They are masticked in place, get a blade and cut around the lens, access through your newly resealed inspection hole. It's at this point you need 8' long arms to be at the front and rear of the wheelarch at the same time.

Basically fish around in the wing and disconnect the bulb holder and unscrew the orange lens and replace with a clear one (don't forget to put orange bulbs in!!) Now the easy bit, place the unit back in the inner wing and secure to the bodywork with mastic - easy!

Oh, and stay in that position for six or seven hours as the fast drying mastic refuses to do what it says on the tin.

I replaced my side repeaters last year. Mine were simply attached to the wing (in true Blue Peter fashion) with sticky back plastic. A good yank and it came off in my hand (I'll line 'em up Podie )

I stuck the new ones on in the same way

Edited to add that I replaced the entire indicator units, not just the lenses.
