well it starts with a 4!
Discussion
Just got back from the rolling road.
Finished the last mods to Cliff's car last night at about 9-30pm hoping to claw the 6bhp we needed to get the magic 400bhp .. well we got it! .. but only just ..
400.3bhp
the torque curve has changed shape noticeably since shortening the induction lengths .. everything has moved up the rev range as you would expect.
Peak torque is now at 5500rpm, and loses out below 3000 rpm to the older longer induction version, but only by 10lbs.ft on average.
It makes more above though and holds better at the very top of the rev range. The power curve takes a boost at the 6400rpm to 7000rpm area we needed which is what the 450mm induction length should do, so the great news is that the cerbera obeys the rules of 4 cylinder tuning
To be honest I was hoping for more than this, but Cliff's car was a low power one before the mods (if you can call 380bhp ish low power!! lol) so the mods have added 20bhp onto this car.
as comparison, bhp as follows :
revs before after
3k 170 170
3.5 210 210
4k 230 240
4.5 300 290
5k 310 320
5.5 360 375
6k 355 390
6.5 370 395
7k 382 400
hopefully on a higher hp car before mods this would give 405, maybe 410bhp on Noble's rollers.
Big gain at 6.5k revs of 25bhp, 6k 35bhp
Peak torque firgure is the same at 357/358lbs.ft.
Hope you all find this interesting
See you on Saturday.

I dont believe you!...those rollers of Nobles are miles out!...We'll see...roll on saturday! ![]()
congrates by the way!
ROFLMFAO Paddy

I thought it couldnt be done without major tinkering and underhandedness?
Seriously, WTG Joolz, perseverance pays
Very interested to see what this puts out on Saturday as it will give a benchmark for my car.
I believe Paul is hoping to come over on Saturday, if he has the time. I assume you dont mind showing him what you did so that he can do it to mine?

Complete lottery so far Julian
not had a very early 4.5 on the rollers yet though, they should theoretically be the best, but it's compression and mapping changes that account for the power loss on the later cars, once the mapping is optimised i don't expect the compression to be a major factor.
On Nobles the 4.5 makes 380/390 bhp after mapping on 98 octane.
Ineterestingly, adding octane booster and remapping adds virtually nothing to the hp, 3bhp was the greatest gain we saw... so stick with optimax.
ooooooo as an aside, cliff's car was mapped using bp Ultimate, so with optimax there might be another couple of hp .. but adding octane above 98 seems pointless from our testing.

Don't know when the rollers are coming .. not just yet i hope, i have 14 cars in the workshop and have no space for the rollers
Nobles are getting all my money at the mo .. i'm sending one car a week down to them for mapping at current rate..another 4.5 next week then a 4.2 the week after that ..
