hi, picked up my 4.2 yesterday and had a 120mile drive back! phew!!
anyhow what a car, great acceleration, handling, etc
but ive already got a few issues!!
1)when driving below 30 in any gear and hardly touching the throttle, i mean really feathering it!! its seems to be jerky, as if its missing or something, but then u give it a bit more and its silky smooth!!! this is most noticeable on roundabouts where ur trying to pottle round in 2nd and it goes a bit jerky!
Its as if you have to be so so so gentle with the throttle, ie not giving it enough so its not jerky but not to much so ur going at warp speed!
2) hot start issues, was outside a mates place (had to go through a bit or traffic to get there and it wouldnt restart!! starting tried to turn over, a few dials flicked up and down like made (water temp) but left for a few mins and started fin after!!

There's a notorious jerkiness in running around 1800 to 2200 rpm - probably your roundabout rpm - was speaking to Jools about it only yesterday. He was saying that remapping can help but I think he's also suggesting that you can not completely iron it out and once you accept this inherent (minor) fault its not really a problem.
As for hot starting - was the starter motor turning, or the engine not firing? If it was the former then you're probably just like many other owners. The starter motor gets cooked badly on Cerbs and does seem to suffer from the heat. It can become something of a consumable.

Yep, been there. On my 3rd or 4th starter now. Failed ones have done the following:
1) Spun without engaging - and kept spinning even with the ignition off.
2) Made horrible graunching noise.
3) Jammed when hot..
The standard item is obviously not the best for the job so was wondering has anyone fitted an alternative or uprated version?
On your first point, it depends on how jerky the drive is. You will always have a slight jerkiness to the drive at low revs, but if yours is excessive, it could be a number of things. Throttle pots, ecu, acc. cable, throttle link bar sticking to mention a few.
I can't really help on the hot starting, mention it on your next service if its due.
