What exactly is the difference between a

40kg's isnt all that is it, exactly what real world difference does it make?
I've been looking for a Cerb for a short while now, seen the lower end of the available cars, and am now considering a newer 4.5. Biggest concern is spending £29k on a car thats worth half that in 3 years like my Griffith was. £30k that cost, then sold for £15750 to a dealer to clear the balloon payment!! Couldnt get a private buyer in 6 mths of trying at the time. Would never get that sort of finance deal again either. Luckily, I now have the cash for a car, but still dont want to lose lose lose on it over 2-3 years.
I really like the GTS Viper blue 4.5 lightweight advertised on here, and been speaking to the dealer, but there are alot around at that price, 2 more up north a yellow and a papaya orange, although a few more miles than I really want at that price. Hmmmm choices.

Real world difference??
From a few of the independant tests done by various PH'ers over the past two years... err it would seem the lightweight is actually the heavier car.
IIRC davidd's 96 4.2 came out at near enough quoted weight, whereas the later cars seem to be over 1200kilos???
Quite why this is, im not 100% sure.

Does that mean the bonnets flap around more, more or less? ;-)
Yep.

Resin on body construction is different and lighter, isn't this the vinylesta body????
No, the v body uses the woven matting (looks like carbon fibre) as opposed to the normal chopped strand matting.
Ok, some weight was save here there with a more 'effective' way of making the beforementioned bits...
but weight was also gained in a number of areas...
all in all, the weight never left the mark, I would not be surprised if someone dumped one on a scale and found the lightweights to be heavier than before.
The weight distribution changed, more in the centre and less on the edges... the new seats and other cabin re-inforcement changes also added to the weight... the lightweights do noticeably have less drop at G pulling corners.... but thats also relative to better suspension setup to pre-lightweights....

Vinney...this car looks to be a nice motor for the money...headlight/rear light conversions as well...'fast-blue-colour'... just a thought!
