We would like to fit a sub woofer in the helmet holder area. Has anyone got a mould or sub woofer enclosure we could buy borrow.

I just glassed in the back like in the picture but messy job to do and the results were not that impressive soundwise. Not enough air volume behind the speaker. With hindsight it would have been better to make a new box taking in much more volume behind the speaker but that would be an even bigger ball ache. A ported bass with a 12" long x 4" diameter tube improves things a bit but it depends on what you listen too. It tends to make it work at some frequencies but muffled at others, a bit chavved corsa + Hip Hop kind of sound.

I have a sealed active sub (bass cannon) in the boot, which sits in the wheel arch space. Nothing fancy or pretty but is as best you will probably get with a fiberglass car.

Swapping out the speakers for decent components also helps.

Good luck with it, whatever you do

Hi

Do you have any photos of that you could post up...as it sounds the easier way to go.

Cheers

What size speaker are you using? Ported enclosures will give more db but are tuned to a frequency.
Also what amp are you using? smile

I used a pioneer under seat subwoofer - smaller, flatter, works well and just adds that fill in base without being silly.

This is the only other real option and the other I considered.

The helmet holder sub looks good but won't really do anything for you sound wise.

Hard to get good bass in a fiberglass car so a self contained active sub (cannon or underseat unit) will be the best route.

I'm thinking of getting one of these under seat woofers but there's a lot to choose from. How much space is available under the seats on the cerb or could let me know the woofer spec you bought?

None under the seat, mine went into the helmet holder. Sliced the back off slightly and mounted it on the rear.
I did it nine/ten years ago so probably other models around now but I think it was a Pioneer TS-WX110A

I'll pull it out at the weekend and take some photos. I need to sort it properly as I had a second helmet holder and used that, so it doesn't quite match the interior. I need to retrim it or use the original

Ha, that's my pic you found from back in about 2002, from my digital video camera before phones took pics!

Still got the enclosure, it's got a new sub in now & sounds a bit better but nowhere near as good as the proper sized enclosure I made for my 200sx, with the same 10" sub.

I think from memory ported enclosures need a larger volume again.

There's not much point in putting a sub in the boot as there is a fuel tank between it & the car, the boot is well sealed from the car, unlike your average one with folding rear seats.

The fibreglass isn't really thick enough for an enclosure & the volume isn't enough either. I layered up more fibreglass but the results weren't what I was hoping for in terms of sound, looks cool though, particularly for a 20 something year old as I was then!

Thinking about it an 8" sub could be better for between the rear seats as they don't need the same volume of enclosure.

Hi I’m wanting to maybe put a couple of 8” woofers in between rear seats of my cerbera , seen this mould looks impressive. Any help would be fantastic. Thanks
