Cerbera v Jaguar XJ220 - Which Is Faster?

On the way to see my parents today, ended up behind a late '80's Jaguar XJ220 on the A329(M) going up to the M4. Exited a roundabout right behind it and thought I'd have a go keeping up with it as we accelerated onto the straight. I had my foot planted to the floor, but it pulled away from me effortlessly. Well impressed! 
Should I have been able to give it a run for it's money? Do I need to get my power output checked, or is that car just bl**dy fast? 
I thought it only had a 3.5 litre V6 in it's final construction - Those twin turbo's must be something else!!
Made myself feel better on the way back.....absolutley wiped the floor with an SL500 off from the lights.

XJ220 - now thats a FAST car...
Its a very powerful twin turbo setup, not your average turbo circuitry... literally no noticeable lag, very well designed....
You can keep up with her if you got a well sorted beast like a red-rose jobbie.... but after 120ish, she'll be waving at you... I believe she gets to 200 f'in quick...

I know there's always a lot of theoretical comparison of other cars with the Cerbera (eg. 0-60 times, power, torque etc.) but are there sufficient practical exmples to support this? (ie. Head to head at the lights - who beat who?)

I think you'll find that the xj220 also lost a lot of weight etc when it got the Ford engine, and also gained power.
They were 400K new, but were victims of the supercar crash (bad pun..) in the early 90's. There was one on PH the other day for less than 90k - I wish I could afford it, I'd have it like a shot - only problem would be servicing, which could completely beat a Cerb ... and that's saying something !

That one was LHD, though. I was sorely tempted myself... figured it wouldn't depreciate much more over the next 12 months.
As for Cerb vs. XJ220, sorry - there's no contest. The XJ would give you an absolute pasting, no question. You *might* be comparatively close to it up to 60-80 or so (but still noticeably behind), but after that it'll spank you hard for the next 150MPH. Wouldn't expect a RR Cerb to fair all that much better, either; you'd still be a good 100BHP down on it.

Happened to watch this last night. Awesome, ol Jezza mentioned the XJ220 has a lot of torque although he didn't give any figures.

Practical family car is the Cerb.
With the length of the back-end on the XJ, I'd expect you to be able to get an olympic sized pool fitted to it; kids seats should be childs-play in comparison.
Was musing at the weekend about having an engine set-up something like the XJ's dropped into the XKR, to up the power "a little". Then I tried taking a tight corner at 70 in the wet, and decided my money's going on even more suspension upgrades first.

a friend of mine bought the red brochure 220 car. he
pulled out of the original deal when new due
to the change of engines. his 220 has been fitted
with one of the very few v12 that were produced
for them originaly. the v12 was obtained and fitted
by don law,THE xj220 man.
