Not having a great deal of success with the bonnet bobbins on my Cerbera, one was totally broken when I bought the car so had both repaired last summer.

Sadly when they were repaired they were bonded back in but in totally the wrong angle so have been straining the rose joints since the repair.

Well they've finally given in today and I'm left with a broken bonnet AGAIN ! ☹️
Obviously will be speaking to the firm involved but that doesn't get me back in the road.

Now I've got 2 options, the first is to have another repair and this time hope that they get the bobbins glassed in at the correct angle or go for something totally different.

I'm considering having a stainless frame made which would bolt onto the raised part of the underside if the bonnet with the studs welded directly onto that frame.

Just wondered if anyone else had done anything similar.

Do you mean the fibreglass part the bonnet rods go into?

I had one broken off, could never get it strong enough to say in, so just made a replacement part, pop rivit and fibreglassed it back in. Been good for 10 years. I couldn't keep a grommet in it so it has a rubber foot from a pc glued and drilled on one side.

Quick image just taken for you

Make sure your bonnet rod adjustment is correct also. It could be you're putting too much pressure on it.

I have never been happy with my bonnets securing mechanism, at either the front or back.

The car is in for its annual service this week and I am having aero catches added at the rear to attempt to give a more secure fixing.

Will report back on how it looks and if it actually works well! One of the things that annoys me about the Cerbera is the bonnet moving in the eye line as you travel along.

Nope, it's the bobbins at the front which form the hinge point for the studs/bolts to go into that are broken.
