Who's on their first clutch?

A post from Ash got me thinking (as well as the fact that my clutch has lasted exactly 2 years/14 000 miles, which considering I drive with a lot of mechanical sympathy, is p*ss poor)

Who is on their first clutch, or what is the longest anyone has had in mileage/time terms?

I wonder if we'll get different statistics for 4.2, 4.5 and 4.0..

i'm on my first, car's on its second tho. the first was replaced at 23000 (don't know the date) or so, its got 39000 on it now, so i guess its due to go out soon. 98 4.5

I've just had mine replaced (broken fingers) at 18,888 miles (1998 4.5).

depends on what driving you do.

if you do alot of town driving it'll alsta very short time.

I replaced a clutch on a cerbie a few months back that had done 55k miles. all motorway driving where the clutch is rarely used.

Admittedly this is on a Tuscan, but I did 33,000 miles on the first clutch and is was still fine when I sold the car. No problems with fingers, cylinder seals or anything else clutch related. My car did a lot of town driving and short journeys as I used it everyday to commute.
Yet I know of other cars with clutch problems at only 5,000 miles

Makes sense.

Since presumably it's the fingers breaking, rather than friction plate ablation that is the main reason for failure, I presume driving Cerbs with more gentle take up (i.e. a certain amount of slip) will make the clutch last longer: i.e. trading friction material for a smaller drive take-up shock load.

My clutch was changed at 30k and it is now on 61k and thats 16k since I have owned the car.

It seems like it's anyone's guess how long a clutch lasts but 30k+ isn't doing to bad I guess.

Older clutch (calf killer) btw .

Replaced at 28000 miles give or take.

Mine went at 27000 miles. On my second.

I believe mine was replaced at 10k miles (ish, I think) and it went again (fingers) at about 19k and was replaced under warranty, so 3 in 21k miles.

Am about to join the ranks of the Cerbera owners with a 98 4.5 on 25k miles . I don't know if this she's on the first clutch or not, but I do have a years warranty in with the deal. I have some money set aside in the clutch fund, but how many of you folks have had a clutch or master/slave cylinder replaced under warranty?

First clutch 4.5 2000 @25K, and a LOT of stop start town driving

AFAIK my 2001 4.5 at 15k miles is still on it's first clutch. You've all got me worried now...

Mine went at 32K. My original clutch was another "calf Killer"

New one fitted at 22k. Now on 37k and still going!!

For the record, a '97 car, so assuming that the clutch I'm now changing is its 2nd one, done 37K.

PREVIOUS OWNER SAID NEW CLUTCH AT 35K (OCT 2000)
I REPLACED IT AT 53K (OCT 2004) NOT A FINGER LEFT ON IT! (SLAVE CYLINDER FAULT ALSO SO RENEWED BOTH TIMES!)

AND ITS TRUE LEFT FOOT WAS VERY HEAVY COMPARED TO NEW ONE!
