Morning all,

Any advice out there with respect to removing the steering shaft, the one between the column and the rack?

Soak both joints in penetrating fluid.
Remove pinch bolts and gently 'open-up' pinched flanges with eg an opposing pair of small pry bars.
Note orientation of one UJ to the other and set steering to dead ahead.
Remove rack mounting bolts and move rack forwards easing shaft out of whichever UJ is cooperating.
Then slide shaft out of other UJ.
DO NOT allow the top UJ (and therefore steering wheel) to turn once the shaft is out as you may lose the relative positions of the UJs and you may over-wind the ribbon cable on reassembly.
