New tyres and pesky flies!

Will soon need new tyres for the Cerbie, rear ones are beginning to show small cracks around the outer edges, I've searched through previous posts and noted that there are recommendations for almost every tyre manufacturer!!! I thought I would ask for a fresh set of ideas and then at least they would all be on one post and easier to digest .....and what do you use to get all those suicidal flies off the front of the car??

Goodyear Eagle F1s came from TVR with the new Spiders. They are great, give a smoother ride with less side walls 35 profile & grip for ever. + they look cool

Flies = normal autoglym shampoo & elbow grease. I wash the front first leave it to soak while I do the rest them come back & rub gently

I need new rears too and after searching this forum I narrowed it down to these

GoodYear Eagle F1 GSD3
Toyo T1-S
Falken FK451

Actually bought 2 Falkens last night on www.mytyres.co.uk/ for the low, low price of £63.50 each delivered.

I thought I'd try em first at that price. If I don't like em I'll try the Eagles at £109 each.

Before you start with the elbow grease, try a bit of polish on a cloth on the flies once you've washed it. Works for me every time (well, on the Audi )

No success on the cerb yet!

Lay a wet cloth/tea towel on them for 10/15 minutes they will then just wash off

Bloody hell £63 an excellent price, I just got the same tyres a month ago for £95.ea

I'm still not sure if I like the falkens yet, I had S02's before that and found them to be much better. The falkens do seam to grip well at low speeds when accelerating hard in the dry, but at high speed cornering the back end seams to have a lot more roll (maybe a softer wall, or may suit running on a higher pressure?)

Don't suppose they'll last too long anyway!
If I still don't like them I might give the Eagles a try.

Thanks Rob sorry you've had no luck so far in tracking down a Cerbera, I take it the one you were going to look at wasn't as good as it sounded? I managed to get that smaller number plate fitted and I'm sure my running temps. are a few degrees lower?? Had to adapt the fixings as best I could to cover the pre-drilled holes, but considering the other option it isn't too bad, keep me posted on the searching front

Bridgestone SO2 255/40/17 When you say you can't find any your size did this include www.mytyres.co.uk ?

Unfortunately it wanted too much love and attention - good bloke selling it though.

I don't want to say too much but I'm looking at another one sometime soon, hopefully - I'll let you know of the outcome.

Yea went straight there but cant fint my size tyre that cheap unless i go for an "el-cheapo" brand.

Hi Mark,

I run 27 all round in my car which has Falken's 245/45/16 and 225/45/16 on it.

I know the wall seems slightly softer but I was happy to trade that for the grip they produce compared to the S03's!

£63 are they correctly rated for high speed?
Thats very cheap, makes me think, order tyres, order 18" spiders seperately and just take them somewhere to be fitted, would save a small fortune.....
