Urgent help - severe wear on cam Caps AJPV8
Discussion
Dear all
Am currently starting my rebuild and have hit an immediate snag. The cam caps/carriers seem to have sustained severe wear (terrible putting etc) and look dreadful! Even though the engine was running nicely.
Now the design of the head makes it very difficult to line hone/bore these back into shape.
Has anybody ever had wear like this before?? Anybody got any experience of how to deal with it?
Thought about making a little window in the back of the heads
Best
Dave

Yes, I have seen a post on PH where this happened, you may be able to find it by Googling something like"cam cap wear cerbera site:https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing"
Not sure if/how they fixed it, probably worth calling one of the usual suspects, and also speaking with a reputable machine shop like Roland Alsop.
