Few things, MOT done on Cerb today, rear wheel....
Discussion
sports exhaust, and pre drive away checks.
Hi
Right, the Cerb I didnt collect last week due to a couple of concerns, I am now alot happier about and will pick it up tomorrow morning.
The steering wheel vibration was the main thing, but it flew through the MOT today, and I would assume that would have highlighted anything big, that could have been wrong with the steering, and overall road worthyness of the car.
So, Im off tomorrow morning to pay for and collect the car.
I am probably ordering 18" spiders soon, but will make sure first I dont get any big mechanical bills.
Does anyone have a rear 7 spoke in "perfect" condition they want to sell? There is a slight dink out of the rear rim, not serious, and doesnt look like it was curbed, just damaged some how.
Also, where can you get the sports exhausts from, price, and whats involved in fitting etc? Decat and sports pipe is what Im after, I want it loud as can be :-)
Lastly, what should I check before finally driving away? Oil/Water levels of course, but anything else likely to get me? Not having owned a Cerb before, and buying private, want to be sure no silly things overlooked?
Thanks
Vinny
(Just about to HPI it too)

Sports pipes available from numerous places, joospeed, act, dealers or indies , blue flame, etc..
Easy to fit, just like changing any normal back boxes, two standard clamps, and two rubber mounts with adjustable hangers.
I wouldn't assume that because the car passed an MOT that there is nothing wrong with the steering, a lot of things are not noticeable in a stationary MOT teat.
But if its just a slight vibration I wouldn't worry too much, get it sorted later.

Get them to show you the window & door buttons, that first drive can be a bit tense, you'll get hot, & won't be able to find a button to put the window down, in desperation you will press the only button you can find on your side of the car....
And yes, your door will come flying open
And yes, your door will come flying open

:-) Im cool on where all the buttons are and functionality things in a Cerb.
Was looking more at anything I should double check before a 40mile drive, just oil/water levels etc was on my list.
Anyway, off to get it very soon, so when Im back on here, all being well, I should be a Cerb owner ;-)

Unless it's had the door mod done properly, in which case the door buttons are disabled.

How does that actualy work?
Mine has it, as the doors will not open at even a snails pace, yet as soon as the car is stationary they open.
Is it on some kind of motion sensor? or off the speedo?
I was just wondering about it the other day.
I'd try one or the other of decat/sports pipes first, and THEN see if you want it louder. Possibly the decat first, as it's cheaper.
Before setting off, (in all seriousness) make sure you've got a toolkit in the boot, the number of the AA/RAC/Local dealer/couple of PH experts, some spare water (especially), oil, and antifreeze, and a fully charged phone. Anything else is either too drastic to fix, or should be able to wait 40 miles.
Oh, and when you get back, don't forget to buy my stereo off me.
Good luck...

Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Finally..... I HAVE THE CERB!!
Awesome. Well happy with it. Looks the nutz, sounds the nutz, goes even better.......
Really feels special driving a TVR. Damn I have missed them, but no longer.
Fits in the garage width wise no issues. Length wise about 2" front and rear spare, lol. But I have a "device" that tells me how far forward I am ;-)
Well, 40 miles, may as well have been 400 miles. M25 diesel spillage at Junction 5, absolutely screwed us. 2hrs to get home, should have taken 35 minutes!!
I know the fans and cooling system is working ok now lol. However, as reported in Rob Inglebys report on this car, it does indicate 90-100c on the temp gauge, but that the fans cut in fine and the car doesnt overheat. Inaccurate guage purely? My Grif was like that too.
Anyway, some work to do this afternoon, then will be out for a spin, with a clean on the menu tomorrow, covered in the crap off the roads today.

Vinny, congratulations!. It's still early days for us so I feel like we're in ther same boat. Talking of selecting the right buttons, Steve took offense at someones driving and angrily swished the windscreen wipers at them.
Have a great weekend and hope the weather is fine for you and the Cerb.
