I need you help guys. Today I did a performance test with my 4.5 and the result was quite disappointing. 360bhp and a terrible torque curve. Moreover the mechanic said, that the entire steering linkage is vibrating extremely at high speed (above 160mph). He told me that if I adjust the engine timing I could get another 30-40 bhp and if would equilibrate the rear tires I could get rid of the vibrations. What is your experience? How much more power can I gain by changing the engine`s setup?

Thanks in advance
Dave

360bhp is about factory for 4.5's and the curves don't look too bad. There is a lot that can be done to release extra horses, easily that 30-40bhp, but the engine work needs to be done by someone competent. I don't believe it's as easy as adjusting timing.
Looking at the graph, are you abroad? Joolz performed brilliantly on my car and others.

I guess there's the obvious, check the intake pipes are in good condition and aren't collapsing, no blocked cats, no misfires etc

As for the vibration, balancing the wheels would be the obvious first thing to check - all of them

The results look typical for a standard 4.5 with the long intakes.

~£1k will get you the short intake kit and a custom remap from Joolz at kitsandclassics. Assuming you have a reasonable exhaust it should see another 40-50lbft with a smoother delivery and ~400bhp as the headline figure. As many people will attest this is one of the most gratifying modification's you can do to a 4.5 by the nicest man you could hope to meet.
