Progress with heads - wire rings for sealing??
Discussion
Dear All
Heads now sourced, and restoration back on track!!
Aquablasted and new custom 1.81 valves fitted but needs some adjustment on seat cutting.
Now my big question - have never had the need on any Chevy or rover engine to fit wire rings. But it seems to be the norm with Tuscan cars and many other 4.7 builds. But if I am honest, a set of good quality (cometic) composite gaskets on a correctly protruding face would seem to me as adequate for fat road use. Now I am no AJP seasoned campaigner - so happy to be corrected.
Is a high CR (over 11) 4.7 in need of wore rings for CHG use???
Any race vehicles just using gaskets without wire rings
Best wishes
