Afternoon all,

The last few times that I drove my car, I couldn't switch the engine off. Pressing the red button did absolutely nothing.

I'm sure I've changed the buttons in the past (might have just been the black one coming to think of it) but I can't find any part number info that I might have used.

I've managed to get some time to remove a switch and the link below takes you to RS components and a part that looks very similar.

https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/push-button-switche...

Would somebody mind confirming that this switch would be OK to use.

Many thanks

Ian

Yes any normally open momentary switch should work. It might be worth detaching the wires and touching them together briefly to simulate a button press, just to make sure it is the button itself that's the problem.

Thank you for that. I must say that sometimes the switch did work. If it transpires that the problem remains after a switch change, what else could it be?

Fracture in the steering column to wheel ribbon cable would be my next check.

Whats the length on that button?
Usual black ones for mirrors, doors etc are quite short

For the mirrors I haven't got the clear weather covers, never had an issue

The switch I’ve ordered is circa 16mm long. They’ve literally just arrived, I only ordered them at 17:00 yesterday 🙂 I’ll let you know how I get on.
