I seem to have the same problem? Does yours get quicker the more gas you give it. I've been told it is the pads knocking but it does not sound like pads to me. You said you have done the diff bushes was it a bit job and where did you get them done. I think mine have gone.
Cheers
John

Aha well that'l be where your noise is coming from im afraid.
Most definately you are suffering from top diff mount failure so you need to be very smooth with your gear change for a while until you get it fixed, and dont ask how much it costs to fix cos i dont want to frighten you

Are you sure it's the NSR Wheel?
I get this loud 'hollow thud donk' type noise from the rear, at first i thought it was someone hitting the back of the car. But then I heard it when I opened the boot.
I dropped my car off at Leven for a service today and asked Simon if he knew what it was, straight away he said it was the fuel tank. Apparently there is some sort of fuel venting system, which allows fuel vapour to be sucked back into the engine (EU regulations). This system gets blocked and doesn't work and causes the tank to warp under pressure, and the donk you, or at least I can here, is the tank popping in and out of shape. Apparently this can also then cause the baffles in the tank to come loose, and start to rattle.
There is a 'fix' which Leven are going to carry out on mine whilst it's being serviced.

Does this hollow donk noise happen when you pull away like eddie is experiancing or is it at random ?

Yes, most of the time. It tends to start about 5-10 mins after driving, and then it would happen just as i pull away from rest, or turning on to a roundabout.
My theory is that after 5-10 mins the pressure changes in the tank and then as you move away the fuel 'surging' in the tank 'helps' the tank to pop. (something like that anyway)
I don't think it's bushes, because why does it only do it after 5+ mins of driving?
Hi Eddie, doing good thanks.
My car's being serviced at Levens 'till wed/thurs i'll let you know if they stop my 'donking'.
I would like to point out that my 'donk' was not an every trip kind of 'donk', more of an occasional kind of 'donk', but would always happen just as I drive away from rest after driving for a few miles.
Could possibly be linked with the amount of fuel in the tank and also the weather. Mine didn't do it enough for me to work out a pattern.
