De-cat

Can anyone tell me what the advantages /disadvantages are of de-catting a cerb....would there be any other modifications/setting up required after being done.

It's mainly a noise thing. And if long motorway journeys make up your regular trips then be prepared for some throbbing ears

Quite a bit depends on the exhaust system you have. I think a few on here consider the best option a regular sports system with decat. I've had the lot done and I'm not convinced yet that it is for me. It's really very noisy and in the short term that's quite fun. Longer term I'm not so sure.

I have had the cats out and sports pipes on Its very very loud. Can be good fun but tireing on a long run.

I think if you remove the cats and leave the standard box on is what tends to be recommended

Mines got sports zorst and decatted ...
was told it would be very loud ... tis from outside
but I find the cabin noise to be fine ...

Ive never really been in a standard one to compare!

Is the general view that it "changes" the sound, as well as the volume, or is it just a volume thing?

If it changes, how would you describe the difference?
