Cerbera 4.5 Air Intake

It struck me while adjusting the valve clearances on my 4.5 last week that the intake set up seems rather poor. The purple intake hoses all squashed together must cause all the cylinders to run diffrently. Why does the left hand airbox feed the right hand bank, would it not be better to have shorter intake (purple) pipes so they are not over lapping and squashed?
I'm sure there must be a reason..?
As you can see from this previous post(Feb) I thought this too.. Someone seems to have nicked my idea

What about enlarging the intake 'mouth' in the front under the bonnet? would this help in any way?
My old Cerb was a factory development model and had a 'mouth' that was more than twice the size of any other i've seen. - see pic...

I never did get to put the car on the rollers to see what power there was, but i'm sure it was quicker than my current 4.5LW
