Gathering at Santa Pod 22nd May??

As some of you will know I have been to Santa Pod a couple of times this year, to see what improvements the Emerald Remap by Joospeed made to my car. The results were very impressive and I have to say that I enjoyed my two days there. I didn't really know what to expect, but was pleasently suprised at the types of cars that attended the day, these included Porsche's (including a 993 Turbo), a Ferrari, an AC Cobra, M5's, M3's, RS4's, various Imprezza's, Evo's and Skylines, some impressive Fiat Coupe Turbo's, and various dragsters and drag bikes. One thing that was noticeable was the attention that the TVR attracted, whether it was parked up or on the strip.
I am going back on May 22nd for one last run, and also because there will be a Reporter / Photographer there who wants to run an article in a well known Mag (although not confirmed yet) about TVR's. The last time I went I only noticed one other TVR, a Tuscan, that was parked up, and wondered if anyone else would be up for a day at the Pod on the 22nd? It would be good to see a variety of TVR's there whether they have a run down the strip or not. It might also give us a chance to run some TVR's against each other, this would look very impressive on the strip?

I will be running my Cerb there on the 15th at the Redline event - my friend has challenged me in his tuned rev3 mr2 turbo, and he regularly see's 12.9 to 13.1 so will not be a walkover by any means!! Every time I've been to the Pod (before buying the Cerb) there has always been one parked up, and yes, it did get a lot of attention. It really is an eye opener though seeing how fast some of the 'street sleepers' are....

It would be good to see you both there. I think you would both give a good account of yourselves as you have 345bhp and 359bhp respectively, which is good for a 4.2. I have posted on the Tuscan and T350/Tam sections (I should post on the rest), and so far there should also be a couple of Tuscans there as well. I reckon sub 13 secs on a good dry day is more than manageable if not less. A good start makes all of the difference, I'll fill you in a bit closer the time
, it's not rocket science, but warm sticky tyres make a big difference, as does a gentle start......

Cyclone, im not there that day/ wont be at pod for a while - but may be sprinting soon... Care to share your launch technique with me?? (via my profile) Dads methods seem to vary wildly between masses of wheelspin (not ideal) and bogging down (using the same revs - got to love that low rpm behavior of cerbs lol)

Good to see you are all interested. The answers to your questions are as follows:
It's £10 entrance fee, plus £15 if you want to run down the strip, you need your driving license (paper + card if poss), but do not need a helmet. I've only ever been twice, but once you've registered to run the strip, you join one of the two queues and prepare to run. If you want to run against a friend or a particular car, you just arrange it so that when you join the queue, one of you joins it one side, your opponent the other. There is quite alot of parking space for those who just want to spectate, or when not running your car down the strip.
The strip opens for runs at 0930am, but you can arrive at Santa Pod from 0800am. It's fairly quiet in the morning, so easier to get a couple of runs without having to wait too long. I think it closes at around 1730pm, but it could be later, i haven't actually stayed that long. The only restricting factor is if it rains, they will not let you run if it rains and you have to wait for the strip to be dried before dragging can start again. Obviously if it's raining heavily the night before then travelling over to Santa Pod may not be worthwhile, but here's hoping the weather will be good.
Easto, bring your Cerb along and tell your mate to bring his T350, have a friendly run against each other and see who wins.....I know where I would have my money

Mayy 22nd is a definite for me. Coming down with a load of cars so will be there giving it max in my motor!
It is a black (cosmos Schwarz) 4.5 and is having a tweak on 17th just before the pod so hope toimprove on my times there!
In terms of time vs terminal speed. You can crawl off the line, no wheel spin, get a slow speed and high terminal. Or you can get a quicker time and slower terminal by tryin to launch as quick as poss. The timing slips i have show a difference in terminal from 106 to 116mph, and my times have been between 12.7 to 13.1. And funnily the quicker times were with slower terminals!!!
Anyways, will definitely be there by about 8ish on the 22nd, and it sounds like there will be a load of us there too, so all good!!!!

Yeah, was gutted not to be able to go last time. I love the whole santa pod day out, its fantastic!!!! Especially when you see NOS powered bikes doing terminals of 180+!!!!
Well after joo played with the servicing and making it run correctly my terminal went up to 116mph..........
BUT YEAH....... Emerald is booked on 17th/18th May, Just in time engineering or what??!!!! LOL
