Just so I can check, wheres the earth cable for the engine connect?
Just looking for reasons for really poor cranking from my starter motor. It was new last July, done very little miles as I've not had the car since end October, but it's struggling to start the car now. Before it absolutely flew around.

I cleaned mine up last weekend, it's screwed into the sump close to where the oil filter is located.

....Probably not a lot of help -

But on the Tuscan/Speed 6, the engine earth strap is bolted to the engine just for'd of the coil pack, and bolts to the chassis adjacent to the O/S engine mount. Accessible and visible with the drivers side front wheel removed.

Do you know if yours had a spacer between the starter and bell housing prior to the rebuild? it may have been omitted.

If you haven't tried already, it is worth connecting a jump lead between the -ve battery terminal and the starter motor housing to eliminate or confirm a bad earth issue. Good luck!

Its under the nearside wheel arch on to the chassis. Have you got a shim fitted under the starter motor? If its just had a rebuild then the engine will be tight but this will then expose any weakness in your starter motor/battery and earthing circuit. I've heard other people complain of similar issues after a rebuild.

Mine has an earth line going direct from the starter motor mounting bolts to the battery negative terminal. I assumed that was standard. It has the earth strap from block to chassis too.

This is definitely the best earthing you can achieve

Ok, on my car the cable runs from the battery to a chassis point easily visible on the underneath of the chassis level with the rear of the front nearside wheel. This then has another lead running directly to the starter bolts.
The cable at the crimp joint to the chassis has blue corrosion and I can move it far too freely for my liking. A lot of my electrical issues have gone now it's been moved.
I'm guessing it got disturbed during engine out and was just a bit rotten

£15 from TVR parts for the main cable, £7.50 for the one to the starter. Might as well do both.

You will benefit more by having a cable made that will run from battery to chassis and onwards to starter without having a break in it

Mine runs battery to chassis point, chassis point to starter. Big crimped connections with a bolt through. With clean connectors it's not an issue, they'll be no drop over that.
