With apologies as the search engine is down, but I am wondering if anyone has any info on trackers, incl. cost and ease of fitting and what standards they need to adhere to? And where the best place to go to get one would be?
Am trying to get new quotes for insurance, and a couple of places have come back suggesting my premium would be vastly reduced if I were to have a tracker fitted.
Sorry if this has been done to death before but I can't get the search to work and with my insurance due to expire soon so I really appreciate any info.
Thanks

Dont bother.
Often they dont work. Just look at the experiences of P1 owners.
Who wants their car back after some scroats have nciked it , trashed it, thrased it and tried to set it alight.
Erm, for reducing his insurance premiums, as suggested in his post perhaps?
I think there's a standard fitment and activation cost. It's been discussed previously on PH here - www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?f=48&t=170423

Did I ask a question? Gave my view. Dont see they are worth it. If I had two comparable quotes then I would go for one without tracker. TVR electrics!
OK based on your assumption that it won't work - he'll save money on his premium and not have the chance of getting back a stolen/recovered car. win/win
If the tracker won't pay for itself, then he could just go for the non-tracker policy.
Of course he could just end up with a flat battery, though it isn't something I've heard of happening before.

Paid for a year with tracker, £109.00+30 admin costs(hmm).
The car allready had the unit fitted.
You can also make a one off payment of £325.00, this will give you tracker for duration of ownership.
incedently the single year cost can be upgraded, though not just before the renewal.
I have thought about getting a car back after a theft, and have concluded that it is , in my situation more for the insurance reduction, and as it was there anyway, well seems a shame not to use it.
Nick.
