Hello,

Can someone tell me what is formula one technology in the bottom end of an ajp8?

I think it's generally accepted that it was a copy of the Judd design of the time, but I'm not sure if that refers to the basic layout (e.g. external in-line pumps) or actual dimensions (e.g. crank pin sizes).

Wasn't that F1 reference a story constructed by TVR given Al Melling (A in AJP) had an F1 background?

I suspect that even by the time grand prix racing became F1 (F1 was to be a formula as early as 1946 ..) the engine tech was already well ahead of anything in an ajp8 ...

I heard the AJP was a copy of a (I think) yamaha bike engine design only with the top end slightly modified?

Yamaha took on and further modified some Judd designs.

I remember seeing a video with Peter Wheeler saying something along the lines of "everything below the cylinder heads is as you would find in a formula one engine". He also said it wouldn't win any awards for refinement and didn't expect Aston Martin to want to buy it smile.
