Not quite sure what has occurred, but seems my chain tensioner threads in the timing cover are fked.. The tensioner just backed itself out whilst wire locked. So literally pushed out.

Can the threads be repaired in situ?!

I was very lucky, when I replaced the chain I slightly overtightened the tensioner, but without causing any damage

I think the previous head skims worked in my favour on this occasion by reducing tension

The required tension is specified, sort of, in the WSM, but it's not obvious how to adjust it

I had assumed it was through washers between the bolt head and the timing cover

But actually the adjustment is by removing the pin in the end of the bolt and adding or subtracting shims behind the pin

Yeah, I have shimmed mine to suit..

Just to close this.. Hole tapped straight out to M18x2.5 perfectly. New bolt made to suit. Jobbed.
